I've got a lot of pictures posted of Donny's Sumo in the Darkside subforum but not everyone ventures there so I wanted to post some quick thoughts and pictures of what I've been waiting for in an LDC. Sure, I almost went for the "Fatboy" and would have been PLENTY happy but it does have a bit of hobbyist manufacturing look to it. Note, I did not say amature-ish, but rather hobbyist. It's far better than anything I can make from my garage, though I'm pretty handy with manufacturing skills and many tools. But the Sumo straight up looks like a professionally made product. In fact, it doesn't just look the part, it IS professionally manufactured. Like something made by the same company as PB suppressors, but obviously these are for AIRGUN USE ONLY. I hate having to reiterate that fact but it keeps .gov out of our hobby, so mention away...
Anyway, I have a .25 Taipan Veteran and it's rather quiet as it is from the factory. I don't have decibel ratings / SPL's because I refuse to post results from crappy cell phone apps and not sure I even trust my Radio Shack analog meter that Home Theater audio freaks such as myself trust in. The sound signature of our airguns pierces so quickly that I just don't trust any meters available to me or the hobbyist. So all I can offer you is my subjective opinion.
It fu**ing works! To my ears there is a slight "crack" type of sound that comes from each shot. No, not supersonic crack but a crack none the less. And no, it's not loud at all but I was after near-SILENT as is feasible for my backyard shooting. I'll tell you what, I have a P-rod that I thought was really silent in .22 with much less than half the ft-lb energy of the Taipan that I thought was pretty quiet but this seems like a new level of sound suppression. I had wanted the Taipan to be at least close to as quiet as my Prod but it beats it in silence.
The innards, or otherwise internal skeleton is a mono core unit and it is wrapped with felt to further dampen the air turbulance of the COMPRESSED AIR. I had tossed around the idea of testing various materials but the felt just works marvelously so why waste time trying to improve as immediately I'd be faced with diminished returns.
No buyer's remorse here. None. For the price, it can't be beat. https://donnyfl.com/products/1-5-x-6-5-inch-sumo (https://donnyfl.com/products/1-5-x-6-5-inch-sumo)
For those who are new, depending on your airgun you may need to purchase an adapter to make it fit. In my particular case I bought an adapter from TalonTunes for $65. To me it was worth the price of admission.
Now for the suppressor porn...

I've had both the fatboy " very nice " built well ,BUTT the sumo is nicer looking , on the veteran standard
Looks like it was made for this gun , if I had a shorty I'd stick with the fatboy looks cool .
I think the sumo is quieter , I have not needed to try other packing other than the felt sent with the sumo
I m also buying the sumo .30 xl as soon as there made .

Ernest bored out a Sumo for .30 cal over on Aigun nation. I tell you what, the Sumo just looks sweet on anything and looks to be tailor made on everything it graces. I'm looking to get an adapter soon to place a Sumo on my Prod.

I just received my Sumo in the mail today. Due to a recurring bout of vertigo I can't really test it out. That said, I did fire one shot out my shop door, with the barrel only sticking out. There was indeed a crack sound but not a CRACK sound. Shooting like that is probably is the best way to make it the loudest possible. Now I don't worry about shooting in the backyard. This is for a 25 marauder to be used at the range primarily but I really hate noise.

If I can get to doing a test video on the LDC I will do it indoors so it will sound its loudest so as to actually hear a difference. Outdoors it may not be as noticeable. I want to be able to tell the actual difference.

Very nice looking suppressor and from your report everything you expected and more. What kind of adapter did you have to get from Talon Tunes? Is it visible in the pic?

I just ordered one for my Synrod after seeing the pics and reviews. He's great! I had a question regarding the adapter and he called me immediately. Super excited to jazz up the look of my air rifle and quiet it down as well!
