Hi Everyone!
I've got permission from the Hickory Hills Rod and Gun Club to hold a party/shoot event on nearly any Saturday I like this summer.
So, over the next two weeks, please post on here which Saturdays you CAN'T make it and I'll come up with a date to hold the event that maximizes turnout. The range of Saturdays you can pick from starts from 5/6/2017 and ends on 9/30/2017 inclusive.
I'll start.
I CAN'T host 5/27, 7/1, 7/29, 8/5, 9/2.

Very cool Joe! The GTA KY fun shoot is the weekend of May 19th so that weekend wouldn't work.
For me at least, almost any other weekend would work. At least a couple members live down that way too.

All other dates subject to how hard work travel is kicking my butt. :o You're about 3 hrs drive from me, so not too awful bad.

I would love to attend a GTA fun shoot. Google says it's only four hours for me. However, I'm still just a maybe at best so I will keep an eye on the thread and see when you guys pick.
What would the accommodation options be?

Hey Illini Shooters, long time, no speak. All my fault, my two year old twins and work have kept me swamped. How have you guys been, Mark, Jerry? My Dad and I have been shooting when we can, I kept building on my 2240. I don't know if I have ever met you, Joe, but Hickory Hills is not far from me. I would love to pitch in where I can and I will post my non dates also. Would you post the rules for the club/shoots so that everyone is in regulation and we don't create any waves. I saw him and his sweetie at the Indiana pellet fling. They are doing well and still terrors on tin cans. ;)

Should also mention, Saturdays not so hard, Sundays very hard!
Right now the good dates are narrowed to 6/10, 8/12, 8/19, 9/10, 9/30. Might want to pick one and get it in the calendar!

Lilly and I will try to attend. Our son retires from from active duty in June so the middle of June is out for us. If it is a two day shoot we'll drag out little camper.

All,
I will check with the club this weekend and post here more details surrounding the shoot. I can tell you a few things already.
1) It will have to be a one day shoot (Saturday) because Sunday mornings we shoot trap and the place gets awfully busy.
2) I anticipate the event will start at 10 or 11 am and run all afternoon. I don't anticipate anything structured or serious, just a whole lot of fun shooting. We can certainly get a few friendly competitions going if we decide we'd like to flex our skills.
3) I'm planning on grilling lunch and dinner. I have not decided exactly on the menu, but burgers and brats are a high probability. I'll probably ask that you chip in a few bucks to cover the cost of food and such.
4) Bring any targets you have, the more the merrier!
Relevant club rules:
1) Any air rifle is acceptable to shoot. Any powder-burner is not. The two concerns are noise and bullet travel. Anything we're shooting will be fine.
2) Eyes are required when on the shooting line.
3) Please don't bring a rifle you aren't legally allowed to own (I.E. If you have a "firearm" air rifle by state law but no FOID).
4) No hunting.
5) Adult beverages are allowed, but you're done shooting once you start consuming.
Things that I'm not 100% on:
1) There is camping onsite for members. I'm going to ask the club if I can host campers Friday night to make things easier for those that are far away. It is mostly limited to tents but if you have a very small camper you should be alright. I am not going to ask for Saturday night camping, as the camping areas are down range and trap starts at 10 AM Sunday morning.
2) Of the dates that are left, I'm leaning towards August and September, but the decision will be made at the end of the two weeks I've given everyone here.
We're going to have a blast!

I failed to make it out to the club this weekend, so I will be stopping by the club on Sunday 5/7 to talk to the big bosses. I'm going to propose the following dates to them to see which they favor: 8/12, 8/19, 9/10, and 9/30. Personally I'd like to pick 8/12 with a severe weather check for 8/19 but they may have other events hosted those weekends I'm unaware of. I'll come back here and start a new thread on 5/7 with plans for the event.

Sounds good. When you make the new thread with the date, maybe put it in the Announcement Gate instead of Illinois Gate.

I would put the post in the announcement gate, then put a post in this thread with a link to the announcement. That way if you need to update the announcement, you only have to do it in one place. Also more visibility.
