My new to me Hatsan AT44-10 QE will be arriving today and I'll be filling it with my Benji pump. Until the foster quick disconnect to Hatsan style probe adapter arrives in the next few days, I'd like to unthread the foster fitting from the pump hose and screw the Hatsan probe on. There is a grey substance on the threads that is hard and doesn't appear to be pipe dope. It looks like some kind of epoxy. Will it hurt anything to remove that quick disconnect? Is teflon tape or pipe dope acceptable for HPA?

Tape should be fine, that is what I have used on any fitting retros.

I've had best luck with the yellow tape (gas tape), it was recommended to me by another forum member who's worked with
hydraulics for a good while. I've been using it since and haven't had a leak yet!

I'm pretty sure that the threads on the Benjamin pump hose will be NPT and the fill probe threads are BSPP. Me thinks you should wait for the adapter!
