Title: Colt AR-15 Mods to a .177 Air Rifle Called The BF-17
Post by: jetmangd on May 09, 2011, 03:10:10 PM
I know it is not a Big Bore, However The Mods are pretty cool.

This is for 30 Meter Comp Practice.

They have taken a Colt AR-15 and removed the Upper Section and replaced it with an Air Gun upper half.
Empty 20 Round Magazine replaces the real 20 Round Clip and, One Colt AR-15 and $1195.00 in Parts &
labour and you got yourself a .177 Practice Colt AR-15 Air Rifle.

NP,
Now that is thought. A .357 AR-15 Big Bore version, Would that not be Sweet or What ? Yep, That would
be worth it to have a .357 Caliber. That would be Bas @@@.

Since the lower is the serialized "firearm," you may have some hoops to jump through in ownership, transportation, sales, etc.  Gotta keep the ATF  and local LE happy.

These are for 10 meter National Match Air rifle competitions
which are governed by the CMP.

I shot high power for several years. I can see many of the
service rifle shooters using these. I am sure it wont be long before
the AR based match rifle shooters are putting bloop tubes
and Phoenix Precision rear sights on them.

Most of the guys I shot with had Anschutz 10 meter rifles
they would shoot in the winter in their basements.
It was nice practice but nothing like holding an AR.
We only have one match a month through the winter to
shoot highpower, and those are 100 yard reduced matches.
Compared to two a week available in the warmer months.

This is a great option to buying a dedicated 10 meter gun when
you can use your existing lower, and your regular match trigger.

While Crosman claims a 9mm group at 10 meters, I questioned them
and they claimed that measurement was an outside measurement,
not center to center.
This is not what I would call 10 meter rifle accuracy, but they are not shooting
at a 0.040 dot to get a 10 either.

I have th Ceina 22 LR conversion for my colt AR. Never even used it. Think it was about $250 added to cost of gun. You cn buy alot of 22lr ammo for price difference.
Then again if I want to shoot 22 lr you just can't beat some of the cusom rugers.

Double Tough,

The Crosman MAR 117 is a wicked .177 with 10-shot groups at 10 meters of less than 9 millimeters, Thanks for posting
The link for us to be able to check it out in detail with some solid information on the Rifle. BluzJamer I have seen the
22LR Conversion kits for the AR15 @ http://www.22lrconversions.com/ (http://www.22lrconversions.com/) that you have on your AR, There is also another
web site ( http://combatrifle.net/22conversions.htm (http://combatrifle.net/22conversions.htm) ) That has kits in stock for the Conversion , The Ciener Kits are
           hard to find.
