Title: Hawke vs. MTC ??
Post by: Mtl_Biker on April 07, 2017, 10:29:03 AM
I should start by saying that I currently own 3 different Hawke scopes and I've been very happy with them.  I also had one occasion to deal with their customer support on an issue and they were outstanding.  (I have Airmax 4-12x50 AO:AMX - new generation with etched reticle - Airmax 30 SF 6-24x50 AMX and Airmax 30 SF 8-32x50 AMX.  My favorite of all is the 6-24x50.)

How does MTC compare in terms of scope quality AND customer support?

I'm about to buy yet another rifle, an Air Arms S510 Extra FAC S/L Ultimate Sporter in .22 caliber and will need to put a scope on it.  I am leaning towards another Hawke, the Airmax 30 SF 4-16x50 AMX, but would consider a comparable MTC scope.

What do you folks think of the Genesis CR 5-20x50 AMD or the much more expensive Viper Pro 3-18x50?  My dealer also has the Connect 3-12x32 but I fear that might be too small and not as bright as a scope with 50mm objective.

Thanks!

I can attest to the connect! Put your fears aside and call jeff at trenier Keep in mind your eye will need to be touching the eye piece. Sounds weird but I like it, gives me an extra anchor point .

Thanks for the comment.  I must buy here in Canada though, because many scopes (most?) are not allowed to be shipped out of the US.  So I won't be calling Trenier.

With the Connect, your eye needs to be touching the eye piece?  I wear glasses and that would be a problem for me as even binoculars and cameras smudge my eyeglasses and it's annoying.

According to MTC, it has a 1 inch eye relief.

My son has one and in shooting it your BROW is just touching objective rim if wanting an anchor spot.
Otherwise eye is an inch off the glass to get a correct FOV

Thank you Scott.  That probably won't work well for me with my progressive (and frameless) progressive eyeglasses.

I'll probably end up with another Hawke, most likely the Airmax 30 SF 4-16x50 AMX.

Cheers!
