Title: Discovering a New Way to Shoot
Post by: Redleg on April 06, 2017, 11:57:29 AM
I just finished my Discovery project.
When I first got it, all was well except 13 or 14 shots and air was low and using a hand pump meant more pumping than shooting.  So I decided to try my hand at modding the gal!

LDC installed!  Perfect!
Benjamin Pump that came with the gun failed!  No so perfect but in a couple of weeks, it was swapped out under warranty for another pump.  Back in business.
Installed a Power Adjuster I ordered while waiting for the pump.
Cut 2 coils off the hammer spring.  No problem.
Installed an metal trigger kit.  No problem.
Accomplished the 2 screw trigger mod.  No problem.
Modded the dust cap to accommodate the LCD.

Yesterday, I got to try it out.  30 shots dropped the air from 2000 to 1500 lbs.
For grins, I removed the LDC.  The gun "seems" quieter than before the mods.
The trigger is much improved.

I am very pleased with the outcome.  Pumping from 1500 to 2000 lbs is a piece of cake.  Good exercise.

Now I can move on to getting something approaching optimal shot string performance. That will be tricky since I
don't own a Chrony.  I may be able to test at one of the local gun shops.

The info posted here about getting into PCP shooting was very helpful.

Sounds like you're heading in the right direction there, congrats.

That's what this hobby is all about!
I like seeing someone doing stuff to their guns, and reaping the rewards. GOOD JOB!
