No wait... It's not a typo.
I bought a Webley ValueMax .20 for the sole purpose of swapping the .20 barrel into the Hatsan 1000s. Why? Because I can. And because I love to tinker outside the box. And because nothing gives me more pleasure than stacking pellets with a $100 gun as can be done with a $500 gun. And because if I want to continue living under my roof I wouldn't do these things with a $500 gun. Matter of fact, I've never even had my hands on a $500 springer. I experience them through you guys. I've also been known to get up in the morning and remember I left a gun out on the deck. Glad it wasn't a $500 gun.
So, the Hatsan was bought new at my local pawn shop for ???? less than $100.... closer to $50. The Webley from Amazon for $100. Never could get the Hatsan to group and I now blame it on poor lockup... weak weak weak. I can shake the gun and pop it open. I'll address that later. I unboxed the Webley and after shooting a few shot I wondered what advantage I would gain from swapping the barrel. I do like the Hatsan stock better. So, I just swapped the complete action. Can I just say.... Man, what a hammer!! Why don't they make more .20 springers?
To be continued...
-
Just noticed... I hadn't said anything about cleaning the barrel yet..... oh yeah.. cuz I didn't.....yet. Just gonna get all dirty during break in anyhow.
-
Why don't they make more .20 springers?
To be continued...
This debate got started in another thread already actually...lol. Hatsan makes the rifle and is already making the barrels, why not slap one on the Striker/Edge/1000 line or even consider making a Model 95 .20....likely just me but I think they'd sell more than a few if guys knew there was a solidly built $200 .20 out there that came in a nice Turkish Walnut stock...I would :)
-
Let us know how this turns out for you. Have you chronied the new .20 yet. Mine hits pretty hard.
-
Just by the sound of the .20 hitting that steel blank I can tell you it's making some power. I've been shooting at those blanks for 4 years now. And it's getting there a lot faster than the .22. That's profound if you think about it. I'm a manufacturer and I offer a .177 and a .22. The .177 flies fast and flat. The .22 flies slower but hits hard. Both calibers have an abundance of lead to choose from. Surely it would not be a wise business choice to produce a gun that gives the customer the best of both worlds. That's one issue... the other being.. why would I produce a gun with limited choice of ammo?
-
I'd guess that the average airgun buyer doesn't even know there is a .20 caliber.
-
If an air gun buyer does not know about the Sheridan, he is not average...lol
-
...I check Amazon daily to see how many are left to sell. I keep telling myself "not yet," but it is getting harder not to hit the "buy button." Scp52, I'm with you on the .20 cal Mod 95! Nice furniture, .20 caliber, AND a Quattro trigger, maybe a Vortex gas piston?!? Sign me up!
-
In the meantime, I'm going to have fun with this one.
-
I just hate ordering stuff online. I'd like to have a .20 springer, but my new to me NP .22 will have to do.
I'll probably break down and order some heavy pills for the Ruger .177 to fill the void in my heart.
Also, I'm saving my pennies for a Synrod that I can do a Captain America paint job on.

Mine over the chrony with the JSB's is a 763 average, 17.75 fpe gun, so yep, definitely a hard hitter.

Jeff,
Last year I was doing the same thing & it got to the point that it was very hard to find one. I bought the last one on one sight, & was sure there were very few left. I paid about $30 more, too.
-
I swapped my .20 cal Valuemax into a empty Hatsan Edge stock after the green one broke on the Webly. I also agree these are little hammers and 1" groups at 30 yards is easy after trigger mod and break-in.

Crawled out and got my eyes open this morning. Betty Lou had the coffee on... bless her heart. Cable guy coming today the make the switch from satellite to fiber optic cable. YAY !! Betty Lou has been watching rabbit ears for 4 days since I got into the "buried" cable from the dish with the mower. Yeah, I'm a popular guy around here. Made the trip to town for sand paper and supplies for yet another project... and milk. On the way our of the hardware store I spotted the ice maker tubing and had to go back a buy a foot or so of that. Then... I made it out to the bench.
First things first.. I figured I had better put Betty Lou's Jesebel back together since I robbed her for Willie G. and the parts came in. Done..
Finally.. on to better things..
I got back to some pellet testing with the WebelHat.... HatWeb.... WebHat.... whatever. MaxHat... HatVal.... Oh stop.
Of the 3 .20 pellets I have on hand.... JSB Diabolo, Benji Cyl and CopperHeads it likes the JSB quite well with the CopperHeads coming in second. The pellet loading port was real edgy and sharp and it made loading pellets cumbersome. My trusty cordless drill and 3/16 bit took care of that. Inlet it and polished it up nicely. Pellets are tight but much easier to load. We all like a tight pellet right? The first stage of the trigger was quite long for my taste so I replaced the adjuster screw from the 6mm to an 8mm. 9mm would be perfect but I'll have to file down a 12mm to get there. It's all I got. So now I got a nice first stage and a clean break. Very predictable. Gonna do some smoothing and polishing when I get inside the gun. I stuffed the hollow stock with carpet padding for now but I'll probably change that once I get the inside tune done. Finally I cleaned the barrel. Qtips with goo gone then patches then alcohol the dry patches til spanky clean. Mounted up a BSA Sweet 16 and off to the bag we went. Let me just say... I am totally impressed with this shooter. 35 yds out and we're inside a dime every time. And this gun don't have 100 shots down it yet.
Sorry, cable guy is here.... back later.
-
I have one of those in my Amazon cart, waiting on funds. 6 days to go.
And yes, offer one of those from Hatsan in a Turkish walnut stock at 200$ or less and I am all OVER that baby.
800ish fps is plenty for standard pellets. If I need power I grab the 135 beast. I need more than that, well the .444 marlin single shot is handy and sighted in. Anyone seen a buffalo?

YES !!!! We have TV again !!! Home cooked meals are forthcoming ! Even when it's raining.

Just an update...... on the cable. We'll get back to the gun this weekend. A fellow GTA member asked for some help and that's just what we do. As much as I have taken from this forum I'm glad to get the opportunity to give back when I can.
So...
The cable and internet went in without a hitch. The 2 young guys did an excellent job. This was a new install so FO cable had to be run from the nearest tap maybe 200 yds away and across the dirt road. They were here every bit of 5 1/2 hours. Today came the time to call Dish and break up with them. And of course I get some woman from another country reading from a script. I explained to her 3 times that we already had the new service installed and we would like to cancel. Each time she tried to offer me discounts to continue service until she was all the way down to $40 a month for the next 12 months for TV and Internet. Finally I had to ask her to stop reading from the paper she had in front of her and connect me with a supervisor. She told me the supervisor would tell me the same thing. That's when I told her at least it would be in English. I finally got a supervisor and to my surprise she spoke English. I began by apologizing for my actions to her phone rep but I was left with no option. I told her I wanted a box with a shipping label to return their equipment. I also wanted a final bill. She quoted my final bill at $49 then added $12.99 for shipping........ Say What? Shipping What? "our equipment, of course".. Ummmmm NO!!!!
I am not paying you to ship your equipment to you. It will be in a box on my front porch and you can contact my lawyer for any payment above what I owe for service up until today. That's when she offered to waive the shipping fee. That's better now please... send me a box, a shipping label and my final bill of $49. And you have yourself a wonderful day. All was fine until Betty Lou says... "Really? $40 a month for 12 months?".... woman.... I will chase you down that dirt road with a stick...
-
You have internet AND cable???
-
I understand it all runs off the internet. We got 50/50 internet and HDTV in 3 rooms with DVR. All fiber optic. Like $150 a month.
-
Mine is shooting around 775 FPS with the JSB's, too. I have some lighweightt 11.4gr. H & N's & they will bring it up to about 820 FPS. 17-18 lbs of energy.
-
"Really? $40 a month for 12 months?".... woman.... I will chase you down that dirt road with a stick...
LOL, I can SO relate to that!
-

That's what I would expect... along with a longer range at a flatter trajectory than a .22 and carrying more energy to the target than a .177 makes the .20 quite desirable. IMO
-
The misleading thing , for me anyways. with chrony results is that most all of us shoot across the chrony at 12" from the muzzle. And those are the numbers we post.... What about the energy left in the pellet when it reaches the target... That's what really matters. A heavier pellet may be traveling a lot slower at 40 yds than a .177 but carries a greater punch when it gets there. Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini can dance around you hitting faster than you can see it coming but, Mike Tyson only needs one slow hard hit at half the speed to knock your butt out.
-
I have internet and cable. But after 2 years of 200$ plus we, well did not cut the cord exactly. Majorly frayed it.
Kept the good internet, and basic cable, DVR for about 110$ a month.
Spent 100$ on a amazon fire tv mini box, and throw 10$ a month on netflix.
Now we watch on the Fire TV 5 nights out of the week.
We have gone back and watched shows we enjoy from the beguining, no missed episodes, no commercials, no problems. Like Criminal Minds, Burn Notice, all kinds of other stuff.
So the cable is not cut, but it is throttled way back and no longer bleeding us dry.
What we save easily pays for Netflix, Amazon Prime, and now and then a new movie, with money left over.
Then I discovered Kodi and watch whatever I want whenever I want. But the wife likes the cable and the DVR so she keeps it. Fine by me.
Watched Kong, Skull island yesterday afternoon. Good movie, Twice we paused so we could get supper in the oven and a few chores done. When we are tired go sit down and jump back into the movie.
Best of all worlds IMO.

Top is the Webley in the Hatsan stock. It's a surprising shooter out to 50 yds. I need to get inside it and do what I do.
The bottom is "Private Styker" reporting for duty, sir.
I am REALLY impressed with this thing!!! So comfortable and balanced. Perfect size for a 4 wheeler grab and go. Amazingly accurate to 35 yds. It absolutely loves the Winnie Domes 9.8 which makes me very happy. I need to fill that hollow stock to deaden the bass drum in my ear when I shoot it and add a little something to that drab green. No scope going on this one. This is the Hatsan 1000s that had the weak lockup.... not no more. I LIKE THIS GUN !!!
-
Was waiting for quantities to get below double digits...so I ordered "number 9" in green today! Should be in my grubby little hands by 4-17...ahhhh the waiting.
-
That snubbed rifle on the bottom looks good. Was the front sight basically just a plastic sleeve that you pulled and reinstalled? Thanks.
Every time someone one posts on these Hatsans in .20, they are out of stock before I get there.
-
Amazon still has 16 webley vmx. 20 cal in black.

Yeah... I simply measured how much of the barrel was inside the muzzle break and left at least that much of the barrel and chopped the rest.. I'd guess I chopped a good 10" off. The I heated a pan of water on the stove and dropped the cut off in it. Softened the muzzle enough to slip it off the barrel. I cleaned up and re crowned the remaining barrel the heated the muzzle break back up and slipped it on. I put some red Loctite on it before slipping it on. This allowed me to check and align the front sight before it cooled and set up. I'm very happy with the feel of this gun. It's so balanced, light weight and surprisingly quick and easy to get on target with.
-
I really like the looks of those stocks with the nearly straight buttstock without a huge cheekrest and slender forearm that's level with the top of the trigger guard.
I'm just afraid I'd break it after reading the reports of it happening to others.
-
It's all in taming the beast. You can use things like small O-rings on the screws on both sides of the stock before putting the action back in. And some closed cell 1/8" foam pipe insulation tape in a few key areas to soft bed it. Dressing the ends of the spring to spin freely and layers of shrink wrap and heavy tar on the spring guide or spray rubber sealer on the spring eases the torque and provides a solid "thunk" instead of the "twang". Also easier on that brittle stock.
-
Foam carpet padding cut to shape and layered to fill the hollow stock without adding weight quiets it down pretty good.
-
Yeah I watched a video of the Valuemax and it had a pretty loud twang.
But your solutions are surely sound advice.
And where else can you get a .20 for a c note...
-
You all have convinced me to keep my VMX .20.
-

I use PA pellet foam coated with 100% silicone for stock stuffing but lots of things work. I also bought some bronze flange bushings which were only a few bucks off Amazon, drilled and cut to size and used them in those front stock screw holes. Now the screws never touch the plastic stock or put any pressure on it and reinforce the holes.

Just to clarify.. I didn't chop the .20. It went into the Hatsan Stryker stock. The chopped gun is the .177 Hatsan Stryker 1000s. I put it into the green Webley stock. I have yet to tune the Webley action other than cleaning the barrel and swapping out the trigger adjustment screw so I could set it how I like them. Very short, crisp pull. I HATE a long pull trigger even worse than a heavy trigger. I'm not sure what's inside the Webley. I haven't been in there yet. I'm about 75 - 90 shots into break in and it's showing a lot of promise for accuracy. I imagine it a lot like the Hatsan innerds.

If the day comes you decide to part with it, send me a pm and let me know you want to :)

If it's put together like my Spector (same gun after all): it's got the usual stuff except they made the tophat out of metal. I'd love to get rid of it but I know squat about working with delrin and likely don't have what I'd need to make one. The Spector once I tuned it with all the right lubes and parts polished is a smooth, quiet little shooter and well worth the whole $50 I paid for it on Amazon and you saw what i did with the Striker stock it sits in.
-
You might be able to contact Mike Mellick at Flying Dragon Air Rifles. He makes the delrin top hats for his tunes on the Chinese guns that he deals with. You may be able to get something from him. You could also put an add in the classifieds here. A few guys have the means to make them. I do know another little trick I learned from someone here... one US copper penny. Put some moly paste on it and drop it in there right ahead of the metal top hat.
-
Already did, got that trick from one of your posts on rifle tunes...lol

That seems good. Bronze bushings should be soft enough for a hack like me to deal with, but strong enough for the compressive force of the fastener.

The set in that picture has been in the stock almost 2 years now and no problems yet although I still used blue loctite on the screws and left the star washers on them before I tightened everything down.
I used those on 3 of my 4 Edges, the 4th is in a Striker wood stock and at some point I'll make a set for the Valuemax.

Got my VMX .20 two days ago, in green! I have owned several springers (Hatsan, Crosman, Umarex, Industry Brand, and one Diana) and the 460 Magnum is the ONLY one that didn't fill me with the need to tear it apart immediately to correct noise, low velocity, crunchy-ness, etc...until this Webley. I know it's basically just a 1000 Striker with a green stock and a .20 cal barrel, but it has a better trigger than my Edge had (pre-Welsh Willie trigger), doesn't sound like it's going to fly apart every time I shoot it, isn't crunchy at all, and appears defect-free (I'll likely regret saying that!). *(&^, it even seems to have a good bore (meaning: accurate with two of the three styles of pellet I have, and ALL are snug to tight fit). There appears to be no barrel droop, at least none I can see (I've had some B-A-D examples in the past...looked like boomerangs!). Now I haven't chronied it yet, but this bugger seems assembled with a lot more care than usual. So far: totally glad I bought it! Thank you enablers!!!!
Oops, forgot one thing: my scope stop holes are drilled off-center, but I am relieved to report that the dovetail grooves seem centered and straight (at least straight/centered enough that I don't see a problem with scope mounting...whew!).
-
One thing you can do if you need to adjust the eye relief instead of getting an off-set mount is move the scope stop to the forward holes and place the back of the front scope mount (of a two piece mount) against the scope stop. front.

I couldn't resist any longer and took the bait. I like the .20 format and the only one I have is an old Sheridan Blue Streak, and soon it will have a companion. I'll swap the action with a striker .25 1000X that I refinished the stock on and sell it as a "Webley ValueMax .25", and keep the "Striker 1000X .20"..... ;D
-
Sounds good John. I don't have a .25 in anything yet. I don't think Betty Lou would like me getting something I need to buy a completely different caliber to buy pellets for.
-
According to Amazon, this gun is only 6.4 pounds. Is that correct? If so, that's a nice light weight for offhand shooting (assuming you don't add a scope).
-
Better yet Randy.... Cut about 10" off the barrel and leave it as open sights. The balance is awesome.
-
I'd like that. You're talking carbine now. And probably closer to 6 pounds.
-
I'd like that. You're talking carbine now. And probably closer to 6 pounds.
Yes sir.... I need to chrony it. I expect it to do a bit better than the FireCat because I didn't trim the spring as much. Now keep in mind here... We are talking about the Hatsan 1000 Stryker in .177 chopped, de tuned and in the green Webley stock.
-
Ordered a Webley Valuemax .20 Last month when they were $100 at Amazon. Received it but did not have pellets for it and PA had backorder on a couple. Finally received my four assorted today. H&N Baracuda 13.58 gr, H&N FTT 11.42 gr, Benjamin Cyl. 14.3 gr, JSB Exact 13.76 gr. I had taken the rifle apart and lube tuned it and filled the butt stock with rice which made it sound more solid when tapping on it and gave it a little weight, about a pound. Which seemed to give it some balance. I shot it at 10 yards with open sights. To my surprise the sights were close and shooting two each of the four pellets had a pretty good open group. Good start I thought. Anyhow I continued to shoot and adjust the sights. When I ended up getting the group on target I had a group of the eight assorted pellets within an inch. I thought this was darn good for a new rifle. The trigger is not bad at all nor is the shot cycle. I am not going to have to do anything to it to make it shoot-able. Just shoot and let it break in. Next comes sighting in with a scope. Always wonder if need another air-rifle, Glad I ordered this one because it looks like it will be a pleasant one....
-
Did some shooting to zero in the scope and it is going well. Only thing is the H&N Baracuda and JSB Exact are very tight. So tight that I don't think I want to use them. Any others with this problem? My thumb hurts! Moved target out to 20 yards, getting late so quit for tonight....
-
Frank: H&Ns not so bad in mine, but JSBs are a miserable-tight fit. They grouped poorly, likely because I was damaging the skirts just getting them seated by hand. I started using a pellet seater, and the JSB groups tightened right up. Tha said, I've been shooting the Benji pointed pellets. They're the lowest velocity, but just as accurate as the other two. Tight groups with Benji pellets from a tin? Who'd a thunk?
-
Mentolio, I modified the breech by counter sinking ever so lightly. Now I am able to use all four pellets without as much effort. Not many .20 pellets available and would not like being limited to just two pellets. Funny thing is each pellet seems to perform equally well, each groups nicely. The weight don't seem to matter. I did chrony the pellets today. H&N 11.42 avg 809 fps, H&N Baracuda 13.58 avg 724 fps, JSB Exact 13.73 avg 743 fps, Ben Cyl 14.3 avg 703 fps.
I decided to tune it a bit and slow it down a bit and maybe smooth it out. The seal looked alright. I put in a shorter spring. It had a forty coil spring in it. I installed a new ARH E3650 that I had on hand. A bit shorter and nice fit. It did not have a top hat and I had a metal one that fit nice so added that also.
Have it all back together except for the trigger, Saved that for another day. I took pictures but still looks like it will be tricky. (Anyone know anything about this trigger?). I won't be shooting it for a few days for sure.
But it does show promise. It does have a nice barrel and shows that it can be accurate. Always hope for the best...
-
I also "crowned" the pellet breech on mine. Makes it much easier to load and less chance of deforming pellets when loading them. I have yet to open the gun and tune it. I'm going to shoot it awhile and let it break in some. Again.. I put mine in the Hatsan Stryker 1000s stock and used the green Webley stock for the Stryker chopper. I had to elongate the slot in that stock for the cocking linkage to function... easy peasy.
-
Yeah Frank i did that to mine right away last year when I got mine, it made a world of difference loading pellets. I also tore mine down and used a generic Crosman spring they use in there Optimus and the such, ( almost same specs as an E3650), sleeved the spring, and used a Crosman top hat. It cocks really easy now, is a lot quieter, and much more friendly to shoot with out a big drop in power. I also have a stock one I bought a couple weeks ago and will probably leave it that way. If there is any left next month I might buy another to experiment with a gas ram set up. .20 cal has been my "pet" caliber since I owned my first blue streak. so I don't mind having them in different configurations
-
Nick Panther, Did you have much trouble getting the trigger back together and installed? Maybe I took mine down a bit to much! I did take pictures so should help. Plenty of springs in that trigger. Be a few days before I can get back to it, but I'll get her....
You mentioned a gas ram. You may have seen this but this guy Ellingsworth on youtube really shows how to do it. There are two parts.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4ZJOLf8EJ8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4ZJOLf8EJ8)
-
Ellingsworth has a three part video on the Quattro trigger. Don't know if yours had the Quattro, but it should help you with getting yours back together.
-
Seems my idea of making a Striker .20 and a Vmax .25 out of the two rifles is no go. The Vmax action won't fit the Striker wood stock without removing extensive amounts of wood and possibly compromising the strength of the stock. And the barrel swap doesn't look feasible as the cocking arm width on the two rifles is too different. Too bad, as the Striker .25 has significantly more power and a smoother shot cycle. It would be a real winner with the .20 barrel but it looks like too much of a gunsmithing project to be practical. :(
-
I don't have the Quattro trigger but it is similar. I have seen that video and your right it will help me. I did take pictures and it may take some time but I will get it back together. It's the springs and getting them in right that is the problem. They are not the type of springs that can go flying so that is good. Thanks....
-
The Valuemax is all back together and shooting fine. The E3650 spring is a bit softer but not by much. Still a little kick but not as harsh.. The four pellets all group pretty well just not all in the same spot but close in to the POI. Still have a way to break-in. The trigger turned out to be not much of a problem. I found that I did not have to take the trigger apart as far as I did to remove it. Lesson for next time. I can give some advice on removing the trigger. I'll tell one thing the pins need not be removed, just slid to one side to remove the safety parts. Now just shoot it to get it worn-in. The barrel is a plus. One other thing I noticed, the HN Baracuda 13.58 gr make more noise than the other three pellets. Like the piston hits a bit harder on that pellet.

I have one in my Amazon saved list but have not ordered it. Composite stock just not what I am looking for and I was unsure just what it would cost to get a wood stock from Hatsan.
Field supply had the 1000x in .22 in turkish walnut for 150$ for the vortex. So I jumped on that. I also have another of those awesome Hammers 3x9x32 scopes coming tomorrow for 52$.
200$ total for a hatsan that weighs a bit less than my 135 beast, it should easy make the 750-800 fps with 14.3 gr pellets. That is plenty for me, especially indoors.
Should have it here and shooting by sat. :)

Say Bill: I bought one of those Hammers 3-9 X 32 AO Scopes also....What a Nice Scope & Mount ! Plus it will Adj. down to 5yds Too! ;)
-
Yes sir, exactly so. I can get perfect clarity at my 20 foot basement range.
I am tickled pink with my first one, hence not even mounting the cheap POS that comes with the rifle.
Mine has been rock solid on my Hatsan 135 QE Vortex beast.
-
I've got a Bullseye ZR Recoil Reducing Mount on order from PA. When it gets here it is going on my Benjamin Trail 1100 XL to hold a Walther ASR scope. The Hammers Mount & Scope will go on my Hatsan 177 Vortex Striker. ;)
-
I have one of those in my Amazon cart, waiting on funds.
No, but I do have a Pedersali/Remington Rolling Block, never fired (after leaving the factory) in 45/70. It has a Williams sight. Not a peep, but a ramp style. It's a carbine.

+ Buffalo is considered an introduced species in Hawaii ;)

We do have some BIG wild pigs here. So far, I have only shot maybe 15 rats here.

Hatsan Striker stock = $ 60/shipped , some months ago.

Just a heads up here but the VMX from Amazon, at least the 3 I have, all have 2 piece cocking arms and will not fit in the Striker wood stock without modifying the inside of it for the pin and roller on the right side of the cocking arm.
That pin and plastic roller rides on a small "shelf" for lack of a better word, inside the stock on the right side and the wooden stocks don't have it. I have the wood Striker stock and have been eyeballing trying it but for now, mine is staying in the VMX stock until I do some very careful measuring to see how much of that wood needs to be carved out to make it fit and work right.
-
That's odd to me because I put a Stryker 1000s in the VMX stock and the VMX in the Stryker stock. I actually had to elongate the cocking slot in the VMX stock to clear the linkage. The VMX was a drop in to the Stryker stock. I don't know if there is any difference with the wood stock, I'm just stating my experience.
Both guns cock and perform flawlessly.
-
Bill, my Edge stocks have that ledge and I'm guessing the plastic Striker stocks do as well, even my plastic 87 QE stock has that ledge in it, but there isn't one in the wood stocks. They extended the curve of the wood to support the action farther down the length of the stock. The newer versions of the VMX all have a 1 piece cocking arm which needs the longer slot where the older ones have a 2 piece cocking arm that doesn't need one quite so long because the arm has that split a 1/3 or so of the way down and takes less room for the arm when cocking.
-
OK but something is still fishy.
The green stock for the VMX had to be elongated for the 2 piece linkage of the Stryker. I did nothing to the Hatsan stock to fit the one piece VMX action/linkage which I bought new a couple months ago.
-
Hmmmm !!! I switched out my synthetic stock to a factory Striker Stock , after the" toy plastic" one broke. Perfect fit on mine.
-
Stephen..
Do you remember if the linkage was one piece or two?
Only a two piece would need the roller guide.
-
I've asked this in several threads now and gotten very few owners to reply so here's the pics and why that wood stock doesn't work with the older style 2 piece cocking arm.
I have a brand new Hatsan 1000X and a VMX sitting apart on my bench. The 1000X was bought because I wanted to do a gas ram swap to the VMX and buying the whole Vortex rifle got me the wood stock, the gas ram, plus spare parts cheaper than trying to buy them seperately and Hatsan will not sell you some of them.
The newer style VMX rifles have a 1 piece cocking arm and yep, they drop straight into that wood Striker stock. My Spector did (same rifle, .177 barrel), has the one piece arm and was built in 2014. It's why I've asked in other threads if owners of VMX's would chime in with their build dates to figure out when Hatsan changed them.
My 3 VMX rifles were all built in 2011 and all 3 have the older style 2 piece arm which has a pin and roller on it and the wood Striker stock needs wood removed inside to create that ledge for the roller. The pics are the VMX action sitting in the Striker stock to show where that rioller hits, my VMX cocking arm, plus pics of the inside of both the VMX and Striker stocks.
I wish I had the 1 piece arms on all mine but all 3 came from the same company on Amazon that's selling them for $99.99 plus free shipping and what anyone ordering one is going to get if they decide they want one of the last 4 or 5 left.

Steve..
You have my most humble apology.. I just dragged my fat lazy butt up out of my recliner and had a look..
I have two Hatsan Striker 1000x with the synthetic stock. One I chopped the barrel down, de-tuned the piston spring and installed in the green WVM stock. Both Hatsans have the one piece linkage and I had to modify (elongate) the slot on the green stock. The Webley with it's two piece linkage and roller guide was a drop in fit to the Hatsan stock. As for the wood stock, a picture is worth 1000 words.
Thank You..
Stephen...
The only explanation in your case would be that you have an older ValueMax.
-
I believe I PM'd you about that same problem a few months back Steve.
-
lol...Nope, he has a newer one. It's a guess on my part, but my guess is the build date on his is something like 2014 or newer. The newer ones have the 1 piece arm, the older versions like my 3 have the 2 piece.
-
Gotcha, I bought mine on the same $99 Amazon deal as you did.... I'm assuming.
One day I'll dig it out and tune it up... All I've done to it is put it in the Hatsan stock. I might have put a longer trigger Adj screw in it. Too many dang irons in the fire.

With so many of us with the great names of Steve/Stephen,, it is hard to know who people are referring to ! LOL
