I have wanted to make this for a while after coming up with a concept in CAD and testing. The beauty of this design is in its simplicity. The mounting block is dovetailed for easy installation and fastened is with a non-marring setscrew. The block houses the spring-loaded locking mechanism for adjusting the stock that can being installed either left or right side. There are eight locking positions on the stock, which the user can choose with touch of a button. This design allows easy access to the hammer spring and striker for tuning. There is a Kydex cheek rest coming later in the week. Stay tuned!

That was fast!! I just posted a couple minutes ago ;D Thanks for the compliments.
To keep the cost down, I would need at least 20 presold to make it economical to produce.
-
Just put up a price for what one would cost if others joined in and you got your 20+ If the price is right you will have no problems selling them Im sure.

That looks perfect. $$$???

$115 which includes shipping to the lower 48. The mounting block assembly and buttplate is machined from aluminum and the rods are stainless. The first run would be cut off at 35 but I need 29 minimum to proceed after running the numbers.

dude awesome job that's sick!

Vash545, very nice concept, design and fabrication. It is great that it allows you to fine tune without removing the AR style stock. Bob
-
If you decide to start taking preorders put me on the list, looks like I could easily use that on my PP700SA.
-
Great idea,in closed position the Prod can be carried in compact cases and backpacks, congratulations.
-
I like it! Reminds me of the wire stocks on the old "grease guns". I wanted to make a similar one for my 2400kt and 1322 but couldn't come up with a clean way to mount it. The Prod breech looks like it was made for it! Awesome job!

It does has some resemblance to the old M3. I was inspired by the MP5. Thank you for your compliments. Seamlessly integrating into the factory design is what I aim for. I like that the stock doesn't add any real width, maintaining compactness. The scope mounted is wider than the block.

Looks sweet, what's the weight of the unit.

I'm interested, this would take less space my backpack compared to the current RAI with folding shock adapter.

I will be releasing a group buy page this week after checking with the mods if and where they allow it on the forum.

After posting, I looked more closely at your CAD drawing and realized that it mounts to the dovetail, rather than the sides of the breech like I assumed. That's brilliant, and may allow it to be used or easily adapted to other platforms such as 22xx's and 13xx's or maybe even other brands, but I bet you've thought of that already. Although the cheek weld would happen at a lower height. May not be an issue though.
You should be filing some patent documents if you haven't already! 8)
-
This would make my prod my new back packing gun. I like this idea a lot.
-
I want one. And yes, get a patent on it.
-
Very nice design for sure, that's adjustable enough to work good on my Prod as well and I wouldn't have to worry about the fact that
I've got the TSS in mine which inhibits the use of the majority of the AR type add ons.
-
Wow! Unreal! You've got yourself a great idea there. I just dropped big $$ on a Leshiy because there was nothing else that would fit in my backpack that could be shoulder fired. Very impressed!!!!

You are right about the dovetail mount (It also It lets the user decide where they want to mount it on their gun). My intentions for the design is to be adapted to other Crosman platforms like the 22xx series. I don't have one yet, so I am unable to confirm how low the stock will fit. However a 22xx series carbine is on my list to get for measurements. I envision the purpose built stock for the 22xx will have a thinner width and more compact.
For the cheek weld, I am designing a cheek rest that can fold out of the way when the stock is fully retracted.
Thank you for the feedback! 8)

I started with an AR adapter mount that is adjustable for height. While it worked well, it was very inconvenient to have to uninstall the stock and adapter when I started tuning my Prod for higher FPS. Those with performance part upgrades that doesn't allow AR stock adapters such as your case now have options.

I have a 1322 that I carry in a bandolier when I'm out and about in the woods, this would be perfect for it.
-
That is way cool! Yes, seriously consider a patent on that design. I plan on picking up a prod soon and this will look sweet on it.

Thanks 8) The Prod is a fun little gun. One of my favorites in my collection. I have taken more pest with that gun than any other airgun I own.

I completed the optional kydex cheek riser that allows the user to adjust the riser anywhere they want on the stock. It gets better, it uses a hinging mechanism on one side. The other side clips onto the other side onto the stock. When your are done shooting and want to put your Prod back into your carry bag, unclip the riser and push the button to retract the stock. Since the riser can rotate, it can move out of the way which would otherwise prevent the stock from closing all the way. Enjoy!

Truly elegant solution for transforming a PRod into a carbine.
-
Vash,
That's one slick design you have come up with! I'm gona need one if you decide to produce them ;)
One question. It looks like the push button to adjust the stock is just on the left side, is this correct? is there a something like a ball detent on the right side that helps hold that rod in place or is it just free sliding?
One thing I dislike about many folding/telescoping stocks is play that many have...
How solid is your stock when extended? I this case, I wouldn't mind a little play, portability is reason enough to give up a little stability. Still, I hope its not like my SBR under folder AK stock.... that puppy is LOOSE!!!

I am waiting to hear back from the admin about posting a pre order page (if there are any rules on it other than what it already stated).
It is a push button with a pin that locks into the stock on one side that can be either on the left or right side. When the lock is engaged, there is very little play forward or backwards. To minimize flexing, the bores in the mount are machined to tolerances that are a few thou over the dowel rods' OD. I have an underfolder Romi AK and I know exactly what you mean, loose! My Prod sliding stock design is made to a tighter tolerance for that reason.

Put me on the list to order when available money up front ok Russsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

I still think this is an amazing idea, but unfortunately I'll have to be taken off the list of people that want first dibs. After really looking things over I don't believe this will be viable option for my pp700, due to the fact of the swing breach on the back of the gun. I'm afraid the rails would prevent me from being able to open the breach to load, but I don't know for sure. Does anyone own both a Prod and pp700 that could clarify?

There is no official list as of yet. The first model is specifically designed to work with the Prod and there are no guarantees that it will work with others in its current configuration. If I get a PP700, I can take measurements and redesign the stock to fit that model. I think that is a great idea if there is enough people interested in having one.

I don't have my PP700 yet sadly....
You mention one potential problem. Another, looks like Vash has hugged the breech on the Prod, and its fairly narrow(.900) Not sure how that compares to the PP700 yet..
Once my PP700 delivers, I'll take some measurements.
I did measure my 2400KT, looks like this stock would fit :D

I'm definately down for a 22xx model.

Lee,
I really hope this takes off and you get the needed minimum order ;)
I'm in the process of building another Prod so to speak... ordered all the parts I needed from Crosman last week. Why you might ask am I building a Prod? Well, I built up a .177 upper, I used the .22 lower end leaving me a complete .22 upper. the plan was, swap uppers when I wanted more FPE. Well, this works OK but I'm tired of tuning then retuning for each Cal.
So, I'm getting the air tube parts I lack so I can have both Cal's tuned, ready to shoot.
Not sure what one will get your Stock... maybe both :D
John
-
I thinking about ordering one, and I don't even have a Prod! I know I'll eventually get one, and it may fit one of my other carbines I have already.
I bet it would fit a 2400kt with a BNM breech great! I haven't put my BNM on yet because I'm the middle of a bottle conversion right now. That, and I couldn't decide if I was going to put it on the 2400 or the Disco.
Anyway, I assume the BNM breech is similar to the Prod breech on the outer dimensions, so it "should" work. I'm willing to take a chance on it anyway.

Got an email that this project is ready to go. Has anyone else gotten this email.

I just completed my second Prod. I converted my original .22 Prod to .177, love it. The plan was to switch complete uppers when I wanted to shoot .22. Of course, that meant retuning...So, I bought all the air tube parts and trigger assy to build the complete .22 upper into a complete gun. Well, almost complete, I need a stock 8)
I'm using a red dot on the new Prod, I wanted light and fast with this one. Lee's compact stock will complete the package.

Dillon,
If you buy a Prod and get it all setup with cool aftermarket parts and shooting nice and sweet, don't sell it please..
I don't need to buy another Prod.. LOL
-
Lol no selling this one Randy!

If anyone else would like to get on the preorder, I will extend it until Monday when I order materials. http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=124742.0 (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=124742.0)

I like to thank you all for your support and for making this project a success moving forward! 8)! I am excited to get these into production and getting these into your hands after they pass QC and meet my high standards. Unless you have made prior arrangements, preordering is now closed.
All the best,
Lee
-
Lee,
Did you get the new CNC? hopefully you did and it's up and running!
Anyway, I've been thinking(dangerous) of a way to carry spare mags on my new Prod using this stock. I put a strap on cheek riser on my Crossman stock'd Prod, it had a Velcro patch already. So, I had the wife sew me up a little nylon/elastic band pouch that individually held 3 spare mags and attached using that existing Velcro patch.
Not going to work with this stock....
Lee, Is there enough room for something on the underside of the cheek riser? maybe a little 3D printed item that could bolt thru the cheek riser and clip or other wise retain 2-3 mags?
Just thinking out loud....
John

John,
I wish it was >:(. I am waiting on the stand that comes Wisconsin. However all the raw material finally came in today so I have been processing it to size to get it ready to machine,designing/building fixtures, and programing the parts. I will make a video of the mill in action and I CANT WAIT ;D I am like a kid on the Eve of Christmas. I am determined to get these out within the promised amount of time (3rd week of May).
Your dangerous thinking ;) is a good idea. I haven't thought about attaching the mags to the stock. The rest is hallow and you could rig up a way to hold it. This gives me an idea about molding the mags in kydex in a way that can clip onto the stock. On the thought of the velcro, there is room on the inside of the butt plate for three mags and a strip of velcro could be applied.
Thank you for your thoughts John.
All the best,
Lee
*Here is a pic of the inside of the rest.

Lee,
Sounds like you've been busy ;D
Thanks for the pic. looks like their would be enough room for a little something... just need to figure it out.
The Velcro strip on the inside of the butt plate is a good idea as well. I could just have my wife reconfigure my current set up to a vertical arrangement rather than horizontal. not sure I could get three mags vertical, certainly two and that's enough.

John,
All those who preordered put their trust in me to deliver and I am not going to let them down. I have been working on everything I can in preparation of the mill so that there are no delays.
Underneath the machine screws that holds the butt plate in place, there is approximately 3.5 inches of space. You will have no issues putting at least 2 mags there comfortably.
Coffee break over, time to get back to work!

Hi Lee,
How are things progressing with the stocks?
Might check a thread title "P-Rod?" in the darkside forum, page 5, another person interested in one of your stocks ;)

Thanks for the lead ;)
It's a beautiful sunny day and a welcomed break from 10 days of rain. I am currently machining the butt plates on the new Tormach. I will post a video of the profiling later. Here is a teaser of a fixture I was making to hold the plates for the final operation. I plan on shipping the stocks later this week.

I sort of know what you mean, no rain here in the desert, however... the winds have been horrible the last 2 weeks! We've had some days of 50mph+, makes shooting kinda hard :(
I'd love the ability to make a big chunk of metal into what I want. Sadly, I don't have the machines or knowhow. I leave such things to the experts like yourself 8) That video is mesmerizing!
Shipping this week? Nice! I hope you land all the sales you can handle ;)
Really looking forward to using this stock, it's going to be a perfect fit on my latest Prod.
Oh, I finally got the PP700W and MKII pistols. The breech is not nearly as wide as I thought it might be. My Prod breech is just over 22mm wide, the pistols are right at 20MM. SO, this stock should bolt right on and be a nice addition ;)
-
That video is nothing, just wait until tomorrow. Chips are going to FLY when I run the final operation!
I have this shinny new CNC Mill in my garage so I am deeply invested in cranking out quality stocks and taking on custom work.
I got a hold of a Crosman 2400 carbine so that will be the next gun I will making a purpose built stock for. I don't yet have a PP700 but I am going to get a MKII when I can find one for a good price so I can design a side folding stock for it. Something that allows you to use it as both a pistol and a carbine and can be mounted on either side. Due to the limited rail space for optics, the stock mount will be dovetailed on top so you can still use your favorite scope or red dot.

Oh man, that sounds neat! please don't make a really cool stock for the MKII, I'm really trying to keep this one a pistol ;D Just kidding.
One thing you may not have seen. On the MKII, the dovetail has a radius at each end. So, slip on is not really an easy option for this one. the only way to slip on a dovetail item, separate the shroud from the breech. Now, each dovetail section has an open end.
I'm really liking these little PCP pistols. I did have some regulator trouble with my MKII but it was easily solved by changing the Belleville stack. Overall, fun little guns as pistols, easier to shoot as a carbine I'm sure.

I don't have a Prod, but it looks like it would fit just about anything with a dovetail.
Too cool!

I'm definately down for a 22xx model.
I would also be in for a 22XX Just what I'v been looking for! Thanks Jaa

The current model for the Prod did fit the 2400 but since it is a smaller gun, I going to make the dovetail mounting block more compact to the gun. There was a little more overhang than I liked but that's exactly why I bought one so I can test fit and measure. While the current design will fit other guns, I make no guarantees other than what the model was designed for. I am always open to suggestions if there is another model of gun you would like to see a stock or accessory for.
-
I think one that would fit a p17 would be neat. More leverage should make that gun easier for my wife. It would likely make a decent enough standin for over lever pistols to test with.

The price vs performance from the reviews I have seen is quite exceptional and they look like a fun gun to plink and pest with. Thanks for the insight on the MkII on the dovetail configuration. It sounds like the solution will be like scope rings how one side has a small clamping section. This would eliminate the need to disassemble the MKII and save the time and hassle.

Yes sir, a clamp type dovetail would be ideal for the MKII. I'm having lots of fun plinking with the MKI(red dot) and MKII(2-6 pistol scope). I haven't drawn blood with either yet. As with most lower FPE air guns, I'm sure if you put the pellet where it needs to go the result will be a clean kill.

Here is the final machining opp for the butt plate. For the sake of time, I didn't record the whole thing being machined. Let me know if you guys are interested in more machining videos and I can setup my Gopro from above for better angle.

Lee,
Post if you got um ;D
Question, will the butt plate be formed top and bottom like the one in your pictures or flat like in the CAD drawings? doesn't really matter just wondering.
Also, do you do your own anodizing?

Sure thing!
For the post opp, the stocks will be fitted to a jig and the top will be formed in the 12 ton press. I was going to form the bottom but I found it more comfortable to keep the bottom flat when I shouldered it.
I don't currently do anodizing but that is something I would like to offer in the future. The butt plate and dovetail mounting block will be powder coated black.

Hi Lee,
Not having the lower bend sounds good, I was thinking it might dig in a bit, hard to say without shouldering it ;)
PC is good stuff! I do a little myself. I started PC coating my cast boolits, you can treat them more like a jacketed bullet once you get the PC coating right 8)

I PC my cast boolits too!! STRONG STUFF! If 1200fps into a berm isn't going to flake off PC, hardly anything will.

Hi Lee,
Hope you had a nice, relaxing holiday weekend!
I really like my PC boolits, cleaner, no lube mess and can drive them harder. not really anymore effort than lube sizing IMHO.
Any update on the stocks?

Couldn't agree more, PC boolits are the way to go. Even Federal has taken notice with their line of range ammo.
I was hoping to wrap up production this past week but had a couple hiccups and worked the whole weekend from dawn to dusk to makeup time. The mounting blocks are done. Just have 2 small components to finish. I will for sure have it out this week. I apologize for the delay.

Dang Lee, sorry to hear you worked all weekend :'(
Thank you very much for the extra effort to get the stock's out. Still, take break man! I know I'm not in that big of a hurry to get mine 8)

Hello all. I want to thank you all for your patience even though I am running a week behind as I played catch up and recovered from a few pot holes along the way. Great news, no more delays!! 8) Stocks are complete and I will begin shipping them out tomorrow.

Looking really good! The most satisfying part is receiving your feedback after many hours of work. Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts. If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to contact me. That includes if there is anything you would like to see on future versions. My mission is to design with your needs in mind.

Here is a guide to installing your new stock. Please make sure your airgun is unloaded and pointed in a safe direction. Remove any optics you have mounted to the rail.
The washers included are for shimming the handguard which might be needed create clearance for the stock to slide in and out. Remove the handguard and plase two washers near the trigger guard and one washer forward of the pressure gauge as pictured where the handguard threaded holes are.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gJzQEBIymCe9m9Pwvq3JhG4-xzCcYtPNjw/view?usp=sharing
To install the dovetail mounting block (can be installed with the button on the left or right side), please put the airgun on safe and pull the bolt in the open position. Align the dovetail mounting block with the airgun dovetail rail to slide the block on and position to your liking and fasten setscrew with included tool.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GEZ90gKVPq6QqfR9VIuJPvTWn3MAsuC8Mw/view?usp=sharing
Once the block is installed, fasten the buttplate to the stock guides with the two countersunk flat head screws. The locking stock guide that interfaces with the locking button is properly fastened and positioned when the button is able to unlock the guide with very little to no resistance. If the stock feels stiff, work a little gun lube around the stock guides and extend/retract the stock a few times.

Last step: Reinstall your optic and enjoy your new stock 8)

My pair of Prods, one is light and handy, the other not near as much!
I can help you solve your Prod problem that isn't so light and handy yet ;) I am doing another run.
I like the way the stock looks with the red dot sight. Very sleek and effective!
(http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff491/Lee545/20170615_155921_zpsgtqbqhwl.jpg) (http://s1238.photobucket.com/user/Lee545/media/20170615_155921_zpsgtqbqhwl.jpg.html)
The cheek rest has been redesigned based on the feedback I have received. The rest is now lower profile than the first for greater comfort and easier sight alignment. The rest is molded in such a way that it applies constant spring force to the stock guides to prevent the rest from moving on its own.
-
I'm sure this project has been keeping you busy, but have you made any progress on a the version for the 2240 or a picture of this one mounted on your custom shop gun?

I have been working the the 2400 version. I will have a CAD model to share this weekend and a working prototype to fallow.

Thanks Lee. I really like the red dot! at 25yds, I can still stack pellets with it so to speak, PLENTY good enough accuracy for any hunting/pesting use out to say 35yds(farther with better eyes). Sure, I'm a better shot with magnification, especially with my aging eyes :-[ Still, for the weight saving and sleeker rig, it's 4lb 9oz as it sits, the red dot is NICE ;)
I can't use the cheek rest with the red dot, the red dot is just to low. The stock rail provides all the cheek rest I need. I might wrap a small section with paracord at some point. Now, with my 2-7 scope that I can mount when needed/wanted, the cheek rest was fine after a little heat gun love to lower it a touch.
The .177 Prod will probably stay the way it is. I mostly bench shoot it and zap little field mice that happen to show up around my pellet trap. at 7lb 3oz, it's a beast compared to the .22! the HEAVY UTG 3-12 scope and bipod accounts for much of the added weight.
I am looking forward to what you come up with once you get a PP700.... as much as I'd like to keep both of mine pistols, I would convert one to an ultra light carbine with a well designed, non wood stock ;)

I finished the Compact stock for the 2400 and took some images. It has the same great features as the Prod stock but made to fit the smaller 2400 breech. It also has the new Gen II buttplate that adds more length for shouldering and the top is lower profile. The best news is the Gen II will be the buttplate that will come on all Prod and 2400 stocks going forward.

Do you mean for the 24xx series? If so, I do have one made for it that is a smaller version of the Prod. I'll shoot you a PM.
