Are you talking about the rear sight?
Or what appears as white corrosion under it?
-
It's tacky. It's a brand new out of the box rifle. Looks like glue or gummy substance
-
Can you wipe it off? Did it harm the steel or bluing underneath? It would appear to be some kind of grease applied under the sight, which is not a bad precaution by the mfr. If it didn't harm the finish/steel after wiping off, I don't think I would worry about it.

Its something gummy. I returned it to Amazon. This is crazy...

Personally, I would have at least shot it first. If that was the only issue, and the rest of the gun was flawless and accurate, it could have been a keeper (assuming the stuff could be removed). Hopefully the next one is good.

It might of been some packing grease or lube.... should of just tried to wipe it and check gun over 1st then if not return.
-
It's hard to see. It's something gummy under the rear sight. And it spilled over the sides as seen in the picture. I think it was a return because it has finger prints all over the stock and gun.

ahhh gotcha.... hope the next one is better

Yeah it was weird and out of place for sure. I went a head and tried to order another D34 in wood, and none at the 235 price that I paid. So I went with the Panther series D34. From what Ive read it shoots the same etc just a tad different feel as the stock is a bit different. Im afraid of that hollow rear stock though.

Worst comes to worst just fill it with weights and foam

Maybe it's just me but it looks like a lot of dings in the barrel for a brand new gun. I have one that's 20 years old and the barrel doesn't look like that.
I think you made a wise decision sending it back.
