A couple of months ago I was installing brass screw cups in my D34.
One side didn't go in just right and the screw cross threaded >:(
To make it worse the screw didn't want to screw in any further, and it didn't want to screw back out either. :o
I left it alone and shot pellets.
Last week accuracy seemed to be slipping so I checked the stock screws and the screw that was gaulded had loosened.
I removed it, fixed the brass cup and tried to reinstall the screw, it was stripped.
Removed the stock and found that the bracket for the screw was stripped also. :(
Went to Chambers web site, ordered the bracket ($8.95) and it arrived yesterday.
Installed the bracket, action back in stock, forearm screws in.
Installed scope, sighted in. She is shooting better than ever.
Almost achieved the holy grail.
Top group, 5 shots at 15 yards. Bottom group 10 shots at 15 yards.

Yep, that's how accurate they are.

Nice groups!

All I have to do is hold on to it :D

No, no, the gun is the tool, and you are skilled enough to use it.
-
Funny how it is. The one you want to shoot as the one that is gone. The bright side is that once it returns you appreciate it more.

Very nice shooting! I've got my Diana 34 out for the next target run but we've got 20-30 mph gusts now and gale force winds and storms predicted for tomorrow so I'll just wait until Saturday.
Saturday, BTW, is about when our storm should be nearing Columbiana.
-
I have a 34 p in .22 and with a good rest I can hit a beer cap at 35 yards. It takes a few shots but I can do it. The sun has to be just right because that is with no scope just open sites. ;D

Yep, we are suppose to get strong winds and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon. :(

I couldn't hit the beer TRUCK at 35 yards with open sites :o
That's good shootin Blacktalon.

Forecast storms never materialized over this part of the Pineywoods, thank Goodness. The wind did blow but we hardly had enough rain to rinse the pollen from our truck and RV. So, I recorded some 10 shot groups through Miss Diana today. She still seems to prefer the AA 4.51 over JSB Exacts and H&N Sniper Mediums and that too is okay.
Curiously, the new Caldwell chrony reads 2-3% below the older F1. Either reading will poke a hole in paper and/or swing the suspended pistol shells or my spinner spoons and I'm okay with that. However, the Caldwell seems to read along at sorta' the same velocity (+/-) and all of a sudden, it reads a pellet at 30-40 fps lower than the other nine. ??? Anybody?
-
No expert here, but I get surprising variations from my Caldwell sometimes depending on how I hold the rifle. Maybe not a large as your's, but I can easily move the reported velocity 20 fps by holding the rifle differently. I am as careful holding for chronograph shot as target shot. Just a my experience.
-
Have you tried holding the gun a few feet away from the unit? If it's too close, it will sometimes read particulates coming out of the barrel instead of the pellet.

I have had this happen. Sometimes if I am too close it will not read at all.
I also seem to get more consistent readings if I aim the same height above the crony for each shot.
-
wow.... def nice!! ;D
-
Definitely alignment and consistent height over the pickups will affect the readings from the chrony
-
Thanks everyone. We're down in the Hill Country looking at wildflowers now. When we get back, I'll set the Caldwell further away from the muzzle. Since I'm shooting groups, elevation should be consistent.

Are all the 34s just that accurate? Or do they not share the same barrels/materials? Are the differences just Cosmetics?

I think it's just Joe. He always posts nice groups. ;)
