Title: Dragon Slayer 50 shot string
Post by: Gary on May 05, 2011, 09:48:04 PM
I haven't had  much trigger time on this one since I got it do to all the rain but it is sighted in at 25 yards shooting the Horonady 180 gr. round ball.
shot #1 583
       #2 584
       #3 582
       #4 577
       #5 570
       #6 565
       #7 558
       #8 551
       #9 541
     #10 531
    Avg. 564
  E.S. 53.27
  S.D. 18.60

Do these numbers look about right?
I think I will limit shots in hunting to no more than the 7.

That gun needs some serious tuning, Will Piatt could bring your Dragon from the 140 FPE that it is now to around 240 FPE, that would make much more sense for hunting

I kinda thought that and was wondering if that string is what a stock rifle would do. Right now I am having to much fun to send it out for a tune but very posible that it will go to Will after a bit.

Hang on !!!

What fill pressure is that string , and has anybody changed out the hammer spring?? If it's a used gun someone may have changed out the spring to increase shot count.

Patton1, It is a used gun and I don't know what may have been done to it. I filled the rifle to 3000 psi. Can't find any info on a parts breakdown or much of anything else on this model.

Those are the right numbers for the older Dragons.

The later versions would get 100 fps more
