I have gradually amassed a set of five each of airgun steel silhouette targets and I'm ready to make some kind of stands for them to use in the back yard. I was thinking of some 1x4 pine boards with steel strapping protecting the front edge (maybe angled downwards) and some sort of arrangment using long gutter nails or dock spikes for planting them on uneven ground.
Does anyone have any photos of their metal silhouette target stands?
Thanks for any tips or ideas,
Bob

I think bare wood on the front edge is safer for "bounce back" than metal. This of course depends on the rifle and the range/distance.
If you want to you could put a sacrifice strip of wood along the front, that could be unscrewed and replaced, if/when it gets chewed up too much.

I'm thinking some rubber squeek toy animals for long range targets, say 65 yards.
I was considering getting some oak pallets and busting them up and building a wooden wishing well with the front half having two hinged swing open doors that would reveal the targets inside when opened.
I might line the inside with truck bed mat material, or possibly just ia couple of layers of indoor/outdoor carpet.
I figure the squeak toys wouldn't make too much noise, and should last a long time at that distance.
And I don't think rubber duckies are very expensive.
Oh, here we go. 26 of them for $13.99 and free shipping.

I have 2" flat bar with rebar welded to it the push into the ground. You can make one long enough for all five targets or individual stands.

That looks like an ideal design. I got thinking that my idea for simple wooden stands might not work... a pellet hitting the stand might knock over targets. All steel seems like a better idea.
Thanks,
Bob

No pics but I took a 2x4, drilled holes and hammered various lengths of rebar into it. I then super-glued a small magnet onto the very end so the silhouettes don't fall off if your pellet strikes a post by accident.

Usually, threads here on the forum make me want to buy new air rifles. This thread makes me want to buy a small arc welder... :-)
Tight groups,

Get a BIG arc welder...
AND a small wire welder.
