Title: Best regulator for BSA R10 MK2 ?
Post by: solder on February 22, 2017, 04:27:38 PM
New BSA, Altaros, Milo, Huma, Lane  etc. I know very little about any of them. Is there a "best" one out there? Thanks for any help?

Seems most folks like the Huma on the R10.
I have one on mine and have no complaints.

Does the stock regulator not perform well?
Stock regulator is a bit variable, but under 20 FPS ES. It has performed from 4 to 19 ES for 30 shot strings. It's all about accuracy and getting the most out of your gun. Maybe I should just skip mods on the BSA and get a new Mutant Vet in about a month. Sometimes this hobby drive me nuts, but I find it a very nice way to waste time and get focused.

I can tell you from my limited experience with the BSA R10/Huma Regulator combination that the Huma performs flawlessly.  I have experimented with settings from 140 BAR down to 130 BAR and back to 140 again.  The Huma is well built and extremely consistent.  Using 140 as a starting point, after working my way down to 130 then back to 140, it tracks very well with velocities/fpe returning exactly where they had been.  The regulator is a cinch to install and easy to adjust.  No spiked first shots and ES has averaged 9-11 and as low as 6 across 30-40 shots depending on the hammer spring settings.

Hope this helps :D

Steve, Are you using the stock hammer spring and guide?

Yes, stock spring and spring guide.  My factory spring is the 1.4mm wire.  I have a lightweight delrin spring guide on the way from XTX Air and will be running some tests on this later next week when it arrives.
