Title: Declaring my Prod to be done....for now....
Post by: TerryH on February 18, 2017, 06:42:45 PM
I was never really happy with the 3-9x40 CP scope that I had on it. It's probably plenty and worked fine but I just couldn't stand not having a "overkill is just right" mil-dot reticle scope on it. A recent purchase of a UTG Leapers 9-32x56AO for the Armada freed up one of the 4-16x56AO's to come to the Prod party. I ordered up a pair of UTG dovetail to pic rail adapters and poof, there it is....barely. The clearance of the scope to the Magpul handguard is measured in thousandths but it does clear. I'm pretty pleased with the tune. 24 shots at a little over 15fpe. Thank you to FuzzyGrub for all your help!!

So with the addition of the scope I really wanted on it, I pronounce it to be done. Probably. Maybe. Time will tell. lol...

When I said barely, I meant barely.  ;D

Another barely was fitting it in the Bulldog Extreme Tactical case but it does fit...barely.

One final barely was fitting another UTG scope wheel on a CP scope. They technically don't fit as the shape of the CP turret is a little different than the UTG but the rubber insert on the wheel can be made to work and is very secure. You just gotta really want it to work. lol...

Very nice! Any internal mods?

Very nice! Any internal mods?

Not much, Brian. I bought it well worn for $200. I had a very basic plan of action with this one. I disassembled it and cleaned everything and added all new O rings. The only mods were drilling the TP to .110, a little stiffer hammer spring and the BSB O ring mod. Made for a great little shooter.

Nice. If you're able to get the shot count and FPE you're looking for with just those mods, why keep going?!? Looks like a great shooter.

Thank you, Scott! As to the "done" comment I guess what I really mean is that I actually have one gun that's together and I intend to leave it together so I actually have something to shoot. lol...

You had to know that I was going to figure out some way to get it on there. That scope just looked naked without a Prod attached. lol...

Could not have done it without all your help, John!

Where did you find that hand guard and how hard was it to mount ??

It's a Magpul MOE M-lok. I got it on Ebay.

There are some pics of the mods in the link below. It's not a big deal to do. The upper and lower have to be clearance to fit properly around the shroud, breech and air tube. I did all of it with a 3/4" sleeve on my spindle sander but could easily be done with a file and sandpaper. You'll have to drill the rivets out of the heat shield and remove it completely.
