Title: New Buccaneer
Post by: Booger on February 17, 2017, 09:40:21 PM
Well I finally got to shoot my Buccaneer today. I did have a problem filling her with air, she leaks from the valve while filling. This is a minor problem because I have a Great White and a shoebox. :) The barrel was filthy. She shot JSB 8.44 okay, nothing to write home about. Next up was JSB 10 grain pellts, a little better but still not what I wanted. I spotted some H&N Barracudas and 10 shots one hold at 25 yards, this could be the pellet. H&N FTT 8.66 was better than the JSB. Next up Crosman 10.5 pellets almost as good as the Barracudas. :) I was worried about the horror stories on the trigger, 1.5 turns clockwise and she is not a bad trigger. My Robert Lane regulator should be here soon, so while I get 50 shots now I will hope for more after the installation. I am not usually impressed with a $400 PCP, but I like this one. She is also light and shoulders well. While she is not a Daystate, I think I like her much better than any MROD I've ever owned. As the story goes, no pictures means it never happened. LOL

Hey Boogster

before writing off different pellets two things you might try...

yank the barrel band many find it more accurate without it...

and  for the 10g pellets start at a 2500 or so psi fill... Mine likes CPUM 10.3 from the tin more than the AA 10.3

I get very near single hole with Benji domed 7.9 at 30 yards starting at a 1900 psi fill... at 3250 psi I send the Sniper Mag and Monsters...

each pellet will have a sweet spot psi wise...

I've heard a lot of praise about the Bucc.  Seems a lot of people shy away- I dunno why because every seems very happy with the barrel and general accuracy.

It's been on my short list for a long time, but not close enough to the top to push others out of the way.

I did some chrony work today. If my finances ever get right I might get one in .22. I have a Robert Lane regulator coming in soon, I think if I set it to 110 Bar adjust the hammer, spring, and add a GRT trigger I should get about 825FPS with a 10.65 grain pellet. :) Right now out of the box she is shooting:

LO   804.60   15.31
HI   843.80   16.84
AVG   825.23   16.11
ES   39.20
SD   10.28

These are fantastic rifles! Mine at 50 yards will do 1/2" or better with CPDH from the box on a calm day. The only changes I did to mine was upgrade the trigger and machined a full length shroud for it. You can also adjust the power via hammer spring tension setscrew.

I have a LDC due in later this week, My Robert Lane regulator is due in at the end of the month. After many discussions with myself, I have decided to send my gun off to have the regulator & trigger upgrade installed. I am having trouble finding the spring and hammer tension screws.

I figure 90 shots out of the box should get me 100+ with a regulator,

Old Pro's is nice, but I prefer wood. :)

These people have good prices and the savings are great, but shipping is SLOW.

Remove the stock and the plastic plug on the end of the receiver. You will need a long 4mm hex key to access the screw.

I found mine on Amazon for $350. Their prices seem to plummet in the fall otherwise they are high the rest of the year. I don't understand their strange algorithm.

That's actually the Gamo Urban, listed at Aceros-de-Hispania as the Chacal.

The Gamo version of the BSA Buccaneer is the Coyote.

You can think of the Urban/Chacal as a cheaper version of the Bucc/'Yote.
