Well I bought one, just cause I guess. It's pretty disappointing.
The only thing I have to say in its favor is that it's light. And the trigger isn't as bad as Crosmans.
I'm getting 17 fpe with Kodiak, and 19 fpe with CPL. This might be the first rifle that I've had that gets more power with lighter pellets. And both are really loud.
I also have a 80$ Crosman Fury that puts out 17 fpe, is quieter and groups better.
My gamo experience had I think ended. I'll get a chrony string soon, but it's not going to be good.

I just bought 2 old Daisy's that were made by Gamo, and I like them quite a bit. But they are small, lower powered rifles with wood stocks. Kind of an extra poor man's R7. But I think they were around a hunerd bucks back in the 80's, so not exactly cheap rifles.
I'd be a little more skeptical of buying a much higher powered rifle with the plastic sleeved barrel. The sub 6 pound weight is nice though.

The two high shots are dielseling. A common problem, to much lube in the compression chamber. Could also have a bad piston seal letting lube get ahead of it.
-
It's not dieseling. but yeah it could be a bad seal, letting air by. Anyone have a good teardown guide? I have a spring compressor, but unsure which of those two big pins should come out first, and if I need to make a tool to release pressure.
-
All factory airguns have nicked seals because they just jam that piston right
Up the tube. Its my opinion they need to be a little more nice & gentle🤔.
Also they they grossly over lube thats a good thing ,but not for airguns😖.
Its dieseling bo.

Sky, smart to stop shooting brother because I have the same gun in .22 and its shooting great. My Fps is just over 1000 with the Luxor copper pellets. My only complaint is that Gamos QC on the stock sucked all the forward edges of the stock around the barrel pivot point are so sharp they will cut you. I do believe I seen some instructions on how to tear it down, on the upgraded GRT trigger installation instruction on here. I personally would call Gamo first bud.... Dale

Ed,
The furthest back pin just holds in the trigger group, the next pin holds in the spring, the second one actually has a flat side that the back of the spring sits on. You will need to fabricate a split fork type tool to get around the second pin to put pressure on the spring.

Thanks to OleTomCat for that bit of info. I stripped it down this afternoon with no trouble.
What I found was a piston seal that looks good, no nicks at all. What was surprising was NO lubrication of any kind on the piston. Some wads of something goopy on the trigger group. Also it looks like the cocking handle was scraping up the nitro piston.
I put a light coat of moly on the piston, and put it back together.
It's shooting better right off the bat. Starting right at mid 800s and after 20 shots it's starting to climb over 900.
It's still loud as *(&^ though.

I just bought one to replace a Beeman that was throwing pellets all over the place. So far I'm liking it.
-
I'm still loving mine. I've put 130 pellets thru it so far (Crosman Domed Ultra Magnum 14.3gr) and it gets better each day. Today my best 3 groups at 35' from a rest were .20", .23" and .34". It's shooting the Crosman pellets so well I haven't felt the need to try anything else.

Today was different. First set of targets the groups were spreading vertically, some over 1 1/2". Since I'd been told about Gamos eating scopes I took off my Hammers 3-9x40 and put on the Gamo 3-9x40 that came with the gun. This was a bad move. The Gamo scope would not adjust for a clear picture at my 35' range. I turned it down to 3.5x to be able to see the targets well enough to aim.
The first group was around an inch with the shots in a mostly vertical string. At that point I switched to the other pellets I had on hand - Umarex Meisterkugeln 14.0 gr flat nose. The groups immediately tightened up.
So I put my Hammers scope back on and started shooting sub 1/2" groups. I'm real happy that the problem wasn't the scope but I'm confused about the variations from day to day.

Variations occur. Atmospheric pressure changes, humidity changes, temperature and so on. I think we all have those off days but the biggest variable I am sure is the shooter. Not following through, snatching the trigger, slightly different hold and a lot of the time we don't know what we are doing to make things different.
Only the crack shots know instinctively and get it right all the time -- or most of the time.
The only remedy I know is do what you did. Stop have a rest and start again.

Agreed. So I went back and reviewed everything. (it's been almost 60 years since I did competitive smallbore shooting). The Gamo has almost 300 shots on it. Now a bad 35' 5 shot group is under 3/4" and the best one today was .22" ctc.
