Haven't been messing with my air rifle much lately due to getting very busy with the shop. But today was diffirent I just decided to get out the ol' mini rod & play around with it. I wanted to make a light weight pig gun. Started by changing the the poly tube I had in it to a bigger one, gained a little but not what I was looking for. I wanted one clip at 50fpe or more. Well I obtained it, I ended up taking the poppet valve spring out & turning the valve stem down a little, just getting fine tuned at this point.
3000 psi 33.95gr JSB's
876 57.8fpe
894 60.2fpe
908 62.1fpe
913 62.8fpe
912 62.7fpe
888 59.4fpe
868 56.8fpe
835 52.6fpe
I'm gonna try & get the 1st shot around 865 & let claim & fall from there.

I had a chance this morning to shoot a little with the Mini Rod. I believe I have it where I'll leave it, got a 8 shot string with an average of 59fpe. Had to screw the ldc together because it blew apart. After I secured the adjusting screws I shot this 3 shot group at 45yrds with Jsb 33.9gr.

Good job! That is a bad little Mini-rod 8)
I still need to play with mine some more.

That is quite some power out of a prod based gun. You probably posted some of the details before, but was wondering if you are running a full length GM barrel, air res ext, and what valve mods to get that sort of power? or maybe Travis just did all the magic. :)

It is a full length GM barrel & a 6" resivor ext. Travis all the all the drilling in the valve & barrel port. The part I've done was install a thinner walled poly tube for the tp port, polish the lead, tapper & polish the barrel port, turn the poppet stem down a little more & remove the poppet valve spring. The most I've ever gotten out of it before was 58fpe, with a fill pressure of 2750. Now with the poppet valve spring out I can fill to 3000, then the string starts in the 860's. Peak power is 62.8fpe. I think I can actually get more out of it by turn the hammer spring in. But it would be fast declining string. With the hammer maxed out I've gotten it in the 960's but I could only get about 5 decent shots.

Thx, if you get a chance post a pic of the complete gun. It is cut-off in your profile. Nevermind, got it. :)

I've changed since then. Added a better scope & did away with the forearm.

Boy, I think that would look real good with the long 13" magpul wrap around foregrip. :)

That's a heck of a Prod! Nice and light to carry around.

I had one of those on it before but just didn't care for it that much. I'd love to have bullpup stock for it.
