Seems as though Airforce has been listening & made a SS Texan that is only 45" long. Lets hope it shoots...

That's more like it! Should be much easier in the field.

With less power. it lost 100fpe! :o here I am looking for 50-100more fpe. 8) 8) 8)
If I want quiet I'd just buy a shroud. But I like my texan loud. It gives it that holy &^^& factor.

At 1200. One would hope it shoots good looks promising.

Yep. Texan already isn't shooting fast enough for barrel twist. So let's remove 9.25" of the barrel. I can almost guarantee they didn't change the barrel twist so now you will have a gun shooting heavy bullets in the 600 fps area. Or should I say launching them

You also lose all the mounting rail area. No sling no under light. I guess the light could go on the scope.

What is their twist rate?

1:20 on the original, it works ok if you can sling the lead around 950+ IMO

Yep need in the mid 900's for most of the bullets.

Never going to get 950 out of a 340+ grain without damaging the valve/top hat are you? Doug how is Nicks rifle comming along? Interested to know what all you've done to it.

Wondering if the SS model also added any harmonics tuning to the overall rig by supporting the muzzle at the end with their internal suppression system. I am going to try and shoot some video of my Texan .357 with my homemade ABS shroud / de-resonator donut taken off to see if the barrel is whipping around like a noodle. I am becoming more and more curtain that is a real issue. Maybe AirForce will come out with a "Accessory" shroud that will dampen the barrel harmonics a bit?

This gun will have less power. This new 220 grain slug should be the ticket:
New slug coming for 45 Texan - 220 grains - very accurate

Shot it today at the Texas airgun show. Sound was much less than the .45 Texas. I was impressed with the power and accuracy at 50 yds we were shooting. Man that is a bigo can on it.
