The 102 I have acquired shoots fine with 6 pumps at 530. I unscrewed the hammer knob and it didn't hold air over night. Using 20 SAE ND, will pell oil help, do I need a reseal?
-
how many pumps did you try to store it with? one pump usually won't cut it. two pumps, with the hammer unscrewed, is how I store mine. if it won't hold two pumps overnight, it needs resealed.
although, if it holds air while you're shooting it, I might be inclined to leave well enough alone, seeing as it's doing 560fps., on 6 pumps. that's pretty healthy.

Yes I tried 2 pumps, but you are right it's still getting reasonable performance. It actually been a very fun indoor winter gallery gun with just 2 or three pumps. Deadly accurate with the peep sites.

Maybe there is something to Pell Gun oil. Started using it instead of my SAE 20 ND and it is at 600 FPS with 6 pumps with a 14.3 grain pellet. Also about 150 pellets through it now. Maybe it woke up?

did it start holding air?

Need to check over night. I have waiting to shoot for a while and there seems to be no change.

I forgot something. The 101, 102's are supposed to have the hammer weight backed out for storage. That takes all pressure off the exhaust valve.
Give that a try.

Yep I did know that backed it off last time

600 fps with 6 pumps is outstanding, wish my 101 would shoot that hard.

I think there is something very wrong with it. I only live about 9 hours north of you. I'll come pick it up and see what I can do with it in the next several years. OK.

I shot it again this morning and it's still at 600 FPS. with 6 pumps. I agree nice problem to have. I bought this thinking it would need a reseal and find that it must have been resealed by someone who knew what they were doing? Tom Gaylord did a review of his resealed 101 using the same pellets and I'm just a little better than were he was. But he did say his 101 was a $50 purchase before he sent it off for the reseal, it looked a little ragged.

I just picked one up a couple weeks ago. Not as nice as yours but nice. The guy I got if from said it would not pump up and needed seals. When I got it, it pumped up and shot fine. I have not run it across the crony yet and it also leaks off over night. I am going to shoot it like it is for a while and see if it works itself out. If not then I will reseal it.
You have the best one I have seen ever.

Loose bore. Mine had a loose bore, but the accuracy wasn't there. I got a different barrel, with a tighter bore. I lost about 100 fps, but, it's a tack driver. Mine tops out at 620 on 10 pumps, with 14.3 cph's.

Where can one find a barrel for one of these? Mine is just about worn out.

I got my barrel from baker airguns. Ask him to slug it for you.

Slug it?

Put three pumps in it last night and it did hold air over night! So it does go to show that Pell Oil can revive a air tight seal. It also over the week seemed to increase the FPS to 600 with 6 pumps. That's about a 60-70 FPS from where I started. I started with SAE 20 ND oil. The increase occurred right after I started with the Pell Oil, I was skeptical of its value but I may have been wrong.

Push a pellet through the barrel to make sure it's not too loose, or tight.

Glad you didn't have to reseal it. They're a pain in the butt.

I live pretty close to Baker airguns, got a quote on a reseal but glad not to need it.

I called him today. He is going to check the barrel for me and has already shipped it. It will be here monday. This is great. Thanks for the lead.
45flint, If you would just send me the wood off yours I would have the perfect 101. ;D
