Title: Another Independence review
Post by: Rico14 on April 27, 2011, 09:51:16 PM
My FX Independence arrived yesterday, too late for me to do any shooting. I won't post any pics as Brett has tons of pics in his 2 reviews. The Indy came packed between two thick pieces of foam in the FX box and it was packed inside of another box surrounded by shipping peanuts. Neither box had a mark on it. Great job by FX, AOA and UPS. The Indy was partially filled, so I didn't have to pump it all the way up. The reason I got the Indy was so I wouldn't have to buy a tank and all the accessories. It is very easy to pump, every pump is the same. I started at 130 bar and it was not hard at all getting to 180 bar. I don't remember how many pumps it took, but it wasn't that many. I took it out this morning to shoot it. I've shot nothing but springers and this is my first PCP. Wow, what a difference. When I took the first shot, I wasn't sure if the Indy fired or not. The sound of the 18.1 JSB hitting the tree about 40 yards out told me it did. This AG is a joy to shoot. You get 6-7 shots at full power and 3 pumps for every shot puts you back where you started from. The Indy feels about the same as my Beeman R9's in weight and it's very easy to shoot free hand, which I do almost all of the time. I have a Hawke Panorama 4-12x50AO mounted on it.

I have an FX Independence in .25 on the way, but it's used and the previous owner lost the owners manual.  If you have the owners manual is there any way I could get a copy of it?

Thanks,
But that "manual" on the AOA web site is actually part of the FX Air Rifle Catalog and deals with the FX PCP bottle air rifles generally and has nothing to do with  Independence specifically.  I am still looking for a copy of the actual FX Independence Owners Manual.  All help would be appreciated gentlemen and ladies, of course.

I have the Independence as well, super gun. Extremely accurate, quite and smooth operating.
I am amazed at the variety of pellets you can put down the barrel and have them shoot like lasers. Never had a gun that shot so well with that many pellets before. Pumping the rifle is a breeze, I shoot from 190 bar to 130 bar on power level 2, I get 11 powerful shots at 16-17 fpe, with extremely close numbers putting the gun into the 2% accuracy range for all 11 shots.
Fantastic rifle.

Oh on the manual, it doesn't just pertain to the indy, it applies to the whole line of fx guns. It also doesn't show anything other than how to load the rotary mag....no actual break down of the rifle.
