Title: any idea what the drop in velocity would be for a Hatsan .30
Post by: Rattus58 on December 31, 2016, 12:14:26 AM
Going from a 44.75 or 50 grain pellet to 68 grain bullet? My Benjamin Pump will shoot a 55 grain .223 bullet with little effort but like anything... there are trade offs, penetration not being one of them at close range, but provides dramatic drop out past 15 yards at medium power. I expect the same for the Hatsan, but the difference in weight percentage wise is 36%... the 22 was 600% or more... so I'm curious if anyone has some read on what I'm to expect with this increase on my Hatsan break action.

Much Aloha,

Someone else on here said that his Hatsan .30 was doing 565fps with a 45 grain pellet and 545 fps with a 50 grain pellet. Assuming you could extend that linearly, and I wouldn't mind having some help here on that question... but assuming... then you'd expect, or I'd expect anyways... 460 or 465 fps with a 68 grain pill.

As such...

grains   68
speed   460
Bullet Diameter   0.3
KE   31.94316794
Momentum   0.138883339
momentum_1   1.388833389
Taylor   1.340571429

you should still be able to maintain a decent energy and be able to keep it further down range to boot... :D

Thoughts...
