Hey guys I'm just curious if anyone is running their barrel band on the hipac tube on their 2240. Is there a reason not to? Is there a reason not to run two on a long barrel?

On a short barrel 2240, HiPac or just co2, I usually just use one...and I've found it to be of more use when set up right ahead of the breech. MAy need to shim it to get it tight enough to work well, but the rear placement helps to stabilize the breech solidly.

I want to get some of those set screws that have the nylon(plastic or whatever) tip so that they won't scratch the surface for longer barrels myself. There are also rubber shims you can buy at places (what I've heard) that go between the barrel and tube/hipac that I'd also like to get sometime. I've been running my squirrel gun with only 1 barrel band placed in about the same spot that it originally was to begin with, never had any problems with that and it's a 14.5" barrel. One that I put together recently has an 18" barrel and I want to incorporate an additional barrel band for sure towards the end of where the HiPAC is but not until I get the rubber spacer/shim and nylon tipped set screws. When I do put the barrel band on I'm going to make sure the distance between the barrel and HiPAC is equal all the way to ensure the barrel doesn't get flexed. I like using the blue loctite in the barrel band set screws because otherwise the set screws won't be good and stationary. When tightening the set screws be careful to make sure they're only snug enough to ensure the band won't move.

I'm running one on mine about 1.5" down on the hipac. I moved mine to the detent on my 18" barrel. It was mostly to hide that spot but then I noticed I didn't see anybody running one down there. So far the gun is pretty accurate. Thanks for the info guys! Wayne52 if you ever get to measuring for two bands please let us know what you find out. I'd really like to have that second band at the end of the hipac.

ok guys i finally got my barrel bands in and installed, used feeler gauge to ensure it didnt cause a bow in the barrel. im impressed so far. this is a 10 shot group with rws super h points 14.2 grains. i actually used it with these pellets to blast a few ground squirrels today. the gun is pushing these at an average of 708 fps and any fliers i have can be accounted to user error.
