I Was thinking about a deer hunting set up. What works for you?? Pics of your rig and gear would be nice. eventually i would like to hunt whitetail. Any input would be Helpful. Thanks!!!

Budget ?....There's plenty options out there, budget will help dictate what direction to loot at.
-
Do you have any regs to min caliber of airgun required?
-
What distance do you call accept your longest shot to be? But, a powerful .45 Caliber with a good HollowPoint will do the job. Personally I like the Extreme.457 with a Robert Vougal 280HP or a RJ Porter 310gr HP For a scope a Vortex Diamond Back 4-12-40 with hash marks work great.
The AOA .45 Bushbuck- TEXAN .45 - Quackenbush .45 and a very others are great choices for deer. Matter of preference, which ever set up you pick practice and find your most accurate ammo. Remember SHOT PLACEMENT is KING!
Best of luck Brother Man

Is 175-200 yards pushing it?

Well I'm really picky about my hunting gear. i like what works every time out. dependability goes along way. so a solid scope for sure. i like the vortex and Nikon line. so mid- upper range budget not the Swarovski type budget lol

Personally here in Michigan I've been watching the Epox Badger http://www.airgundepot.com/epox-badger-40-caliber-pcp-air-rifle.html (http://www.airgundepot.com/epox-badger-40-caliber-pcp-air-rifle.html) It's 40 cal but the biggest drawback for me would be it takes up to a 4300psi fill maximum pressure. This gun would be great for knockdown power being it will generate up to 300 ftlbs. It would make a fantastic brush gun as well with the right bullet.

175 - 200 yds is out of the question...You have to liken big game hunting with an air rifle to bowhunting. Meaning, you have to get close... Not quite as close as a bow hunter has to get but, close. IMHO, 80 yds and in...80 yds being the absolute maximum distance....Here is the choice I made:

I really like my 909s with a hawke 2-7x32. It's light, maneuverable, and can hit .5" groups at 50 yards. With a Will Piatt tune I am hitting 290fpe for 3 shots, using 165gr EPP-UG.

Yes I must admit that the Texan would be a much better choice for long distance shooting for sure! Wide open hunting is much different than hunting here, I have been waiting to see some hunting results on Cedric's Epox Badger too because them guys really get into the hundred yard shots and more on them ground squirrels in Cal.

I like the epox badger great price for a bigbore

Although I will never own one or ever go Deer hunting again, I would dearly love to see the pictures on these Air Gun Deer Hunting Setup's and read the Deer Camp stories. Good luck Hunting to All of you folks ! I Send My Best Regards - Tom

i was so close to getting a slayer but i figured in the extras id need to get shooting and hunting and this is what i came up with Empire mini bottle for the backpack, Scott 30 min tank , and a few other odds and ends But the main reason I'm to this point is the Yong Heng pump, Seriously!! this pump was my deciding factor in getting into hunting with pcp's. MR.hollowpoint sent me some 275's i really liked but of course ill experiment with everything out there.

Nice gun, those Extreme are powerful, solid built guns, really like that stock
.....How much those .408 run for nowadays ?
-
I Got this one from mr.hollowpoint for around 1500 and the scope was about 190 so after scope mounts and sling it set e back 1700 or so
