I have seen more than a few videos on automating the hand pumps but I have yet to see anyone put them in a gang setup similar to a group of pistons. Anyone seen this setup before? I don't think it's cost effective and that's not the idea of the post just wondering if it has been done before.

;) Assuming twin Hill Pumps @$289 ea plus a motor and metal to fabricate a stand / frame and other peripherals it would be cheaper to just buy a Freedom 8 and small Porter Cable oil less shop compressor for $99 you would be all in for ~$1000.00 + or Minus a few dollars
-
I have a 1.5hp farm duty motor. Many pieces of scrap. Is the cost really the only factor?
-
I guess one could gather some used pumps and since I would assume anyone building one would be on the handy and clever side, I'd say why not. Mc Gyver kinda thing for sure.
-
Look on youtube there have been several versions of motorized hand pumps for charging PCP rifles. The key is a slow rpm so that you don't overheat and burn up the o-rings
-
Slow and easy, like your doing the pumping, just that your not ;)
-
I was thinking four benjamin pumps since they normally have a poor rap maybe get them cheap. Put them on kind of a crank shaft consolidate the bleed and air intake.
-
I've thought of building something with one of these . https://www.amazon.com/VEVOR-4500psi-Pressure-Pre-Charged-Pneumatic/dp/B01LJ7XCDO/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1480046716&sr=8-14&keywords=Webley+Air+Rifles (https://www.amazon.com/VEVOR-4500psi-Pressure-Pre-Charged-Pneumatic/dp/B01LJ7XCDO/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1480046716&sr=8-14&keywords=Webley+Air+Rifles) they look to be very similar to the air venturi g6 pump . My g6 pump has been very reliable .

Got a simple answer that will save you time and probably money in the long run ALPHA 90

i posted these g6s, theyre out right now
82 each shipped

I am new to all of this. I have heard of the g6 pumps and looked through your post on the bargain gate. As I under stand it the g6 has its intake around or in the handle. What I was looking for in the ultimate end game is a setup that you can start with one pump and easily add more as time goes on. Ending with 3 to 6 pumps.
-
I took a look at the alpha 90 and that might be Purchase later but I want to tinker now. The setup I am thinking of should be no more than 500$ total if you going from scratch. I was thinking for just a single pump to use a washing machine motor. They are easy enough to come by. For the multi I would need to go with a shaft driven setup and the bigger.motor.

I have read this post twice now, and have come to the conclusion that almost every response has missed the original posters meaning completely.
I too have several pumps here, (Not hand pumps however), and have wondered about using a "Y" block to the bottle. However, the question in my mind, is the back fill valve.
Would the back pressure be too much, or can it be done. And if so, what precautions would be needed to keep from causing problems with the back pressure. If any.
Cost was NOT part of the original posters concern. Nor is it mine. so please, no futher post on how much cheaper another pump would be. It is not germane to this post. ;)
Any input, other than telling us a certain brand, or type of pump would be cheaper would be greatly appreciated.
Inquiring minds want to know! 8)

i dont see why it would be an issue its been done before on youtube.. if you wanted to offset the timing like "pistons" as the o.p says, it would be no different because whatever the residual pressure is , it would still be released to the gun or tank once the tank pressure is overcome.. the block , or Y connection could certainly be a homebrew threaded block , and since a lot of the pumps have a straight Bsp thread , it could likely be found on ebay.. the one thing that may be needed as an efficiency booster would be a check valve one way at the union block

Over the years in all my hobbies, I have tried the frugal way out many times.
Very rarely did that work out with a piece of equipment that got constant or heavy use.
Even in this hobby, I still look for the money saving way, but after weighing all the options, and talking with many people that has been down the road before me, it still boils down to the old adage, buy once, cry once.
I have had pumps, and still have one as a backup, when I went with scuba tanks, (my first was a 2300psi tank that worked for my disco) as my guns increased in power the scuba tanks were not enough so had to get a 3000 psi tank, but it would only fill my Marauder to 2800psi a few times, but I eventually went with the 4500 carbon fiber tank it stopped that problem.
If I had bought the 4500 tank first,($300) I wouldn't have spent $380+ on scuba tanks and fill stations.
The local paintball shops charge $1 per thousand psi to fill.
Thats cheap enough to not buy a compressor yet..

This was never about being frugal ;p this more just playing around in my garage beyond all else. If i got a carbon fiber tank for 300$ that had hookups i would buy it today and still build a contraption becuase it can be fun. I actually had a thought in my head to use a riding lawn mower for the drive due to their low speeds. Cut the grass and charge my squirel duster or top a bottle.
This whole experience is just me playing around with my toys aka tools. Btw I want a shirt with your tag on it it would fit my style exactly. Just remember kids beehives and motorcycles dont mix well, if i ever see any of you in person i could explain :)

There's another idea , use an old exercise bike for the power source

Hi Chris,
Sounds like fun! Here's a guy on YouTube who put two together:

I'm thinking another two could be added going out in the opposite direction. Please keep up posted on where you go with this.

If you mean the I tried it at home, I saw one and I have been running that image for years.
Here's a link to a place.

I had thought of that as well. I would rather use the bike than hand pump. For the mechanical solution I may just cobble a worm drive on the mill with a smallish motor there is two items to check off on this one is a worm drive powered by a typical washing machine motor. Thinking CL free stuff on that pick. The second is the I've gone off the deepend solution with the bigger motor and shaft. Either way i am not ready to start construction. I was looking to see what is common knowledge on the forums and if it been done already. I have both the big and little motors with plenty of scrap about just waiting until after christmas so home life can go back to normal.
-
Yes the first, everyone I mailed that pic to today said it fits perfectly. That included my neighbor who freaked out alittle when the mushroom cloud from my foundry went up over the house after the loud light off. I wonder if he thought he was getting a new neighbor after that.... only problem with ordering it was they dont have it in 3XLT. No one seems to carry the tall stuff

If you meant the pulse weapon I came up with that about 5 years ago
