Title: Pellets Stricking Front Sight Assy?
Post by: Yng@hrt on December 19, 2016, 01:43:30 PM
Was experimenting with difference rounds yesterday. Shot really good groups although this was not the norm. While cleaning the barrel I noticed chunks taken out of the sight housing (for a lack of better terms). I assume a waste of time shooting rounds until I figure out the cause.

Anyone else experience this? Should I be concerned? If so, what is the fix?

Thanks

It looks like the barrel is centered so I can't see how a pellet is hitting the sight. Perhaps it was there before and you just didn't notice it. I'm assuming that it's plastic.

Looked at it under magnification & compared the two sides. The undamaged side is slick & crisp. The damaged side is ragged & also shows signs that it is very resent. Being that it is plastic, maybe the pellets will chew enough away so that the problem resolves itself.

This photo clearly shows the damage was inflicted from the inside out.

Never mind. What ever it was (my guess pilot error) it must have cleared itself up. Was using CPP 7.4 gr. That darn thing was all over the map. Switched back to CPHP. These were the best of three. I think I'll keep em.
