Title: terrus .177 first impressions
Post by: uglymike on December 03, 2016, 01:47:20 PM
I got in on the AOA $149 deal, and have some first impressions. Wood Terrus .177, put a Hawke 4X12 on it. Run about 100 pellets thru it this AM. Very little "burn off" smell, maybe first couple dozen shots. No diesel, no smoke. Trigger is not adjustable for pull weight, just first stage travel. So-so trigger, not great, breaks at about 3-4lbs. Sorry, don't have a pull gauge. I have an LGV, and this Terrus isn't anywhere close to it. Terrus also has the screw off end on the barrel. Very light in weight compared to my LGV .177. Some twang going on, and the cocking is a little noisy, NOT the absolute silence when cocking an LGV that's for sure.
My first impression is that it's an OK rifle for $149. I definitely do NOT think it's worth the $100 more everybody else is charging. At $250, I think you're much better off getting a D34, the T06 trigger is light years better. I'll keep shooting it, run some crony numbers after a tin of pellets, and get back to you.

Thanks for the review. I love my Terrus, although at first I found it challenging.

I gave myself a tin of pellets to get used to the non-adjustable trigger pull. After a tin of pellets, still couldn't do that heavy trigger. Bye-Bye Terrus! Already sold it. It was an OK rifle, not great, better than the low end Spainish and Chinese springers I've tried. Is it worth the $250 most places charge, no IMHO. That's D34 $$ range, and the Terrus is not even close to the D34 T06 when comparing them side by side. Spend a few bucks more and get the D34........ ;)

The trigger is no TO6. With that said the accuracy between my Terrus and M34 is very equal out to 45m.. Since accuracy is what counts I can say they're almost equal.

It seems the complaints with the Terrus are the ones bought at AOA for 149.00. I purchased mine from PA and it doesn't exhibit any spring noise or cocking noise. I removed the action from the stock and spring is coated with a heavy grease. I have to wonder if the ones AOA are selling are not first runs.
