I just received my Diana K98 .22 today. My first impressions of this gun are that it's better than what I expected. Especially for the price. I've only put about 100 pellets through it, but it appears to be just as accurate as my HW97K. Or put another way, more accurate than I'm capable of shooting. The stock has a nice dark finish that still shows some grain and feels like it will hold up very well. The quality and feel of the stock is like my RWS 48 or R9. The blueing is also really nice. Overall the fit and finish is excellent.
I've seen comments on You Tube that say this gun is a twanger. I'm a huge Springer fan so keep that in mind when I say I didn't notice any twang at all. On the other hand, recoil is an issue, as it is with all springers, but perhaps just a little more with the K98. However it is only an issue when it comes to mounting a scope. The K98 really requires mounts with scope stops. Otherwise you will certainly have scope creep with it.
My final first impression is that this is a pretty heavy gun, so shooting it off hand might take some effort. Oh and speaking of effort, I found the cocking effort to be lighter than my RWS48, but not quite as light or smooth as my HK97. For whatever that's worth.

Thanks for this review. I have been looking at this gun for a while. I was looking at the 460, But I like the price of the K98. I was looking at a 48, but after shooting one I found it hard to cock. My left arm is pretty messed up. So under levers are easier for me to cock then a side lever. And it seems like after a tune the K98 would be a good bench rest springer. I love Diana rifles in 22cal.

I have a cheap Center Point 3x9x40 AO scope mounted on it. These 10 shot groups were taken at 15 yards. I just wanted to see what kind of groups it could shoot. On my best day I'm an average shooter. The K98 is not what people call "stupid" accurate, whatever that means, but it is accurate right out of the box. At least accurate enough for me.
