Good Day
Trying to find info about this question....
Want to get my self a Sumatra Carbine in .22 cal. Also need a LCD for it..
My question is: Does the LCD increase fps / ftp ?

The LDC just reduce the noise. It should not affect anything else. Some people have said some LDCs affect the point of impact when compared to without LDC but I've never experienced it.
-
An LDC should only decrease noise & should have no affect on the velocity. If it does affect your velocity, sounds like a problem with the LDC.

Thanks guys
Was thinking that it was essentially like making the barrel longer and thus affecting velocity / speed...
The situation was that I'm torn between the Sumatra carbine and the "long" (2500 or 500cc) in .22. Because i wanted a field hunting rifle, walking around in the woods, the Carbine was ideal. But the "long" had more velocity. I thought that I could go with the Carbine, add a LDC, and increase velocity / speed slightly :'(

What will you be hunting?

I own the Carbine and Long Gun in .25 in .22 the Carbine only. Shooting a heavier pellet producing above 30fpe is plenty for small game. Cranking the .22 Carbine to 40plus FPE is usable for Coyote size game with HEAD SHOTS. But, a Will Piatt tune is a huge advantage to have. Higher shot count, smoother trigger and a flatter shot string is what my guns Recieved from a tune. $250 well spent Day and Night difference with a tune. Just my opinion though. Lol if you want to take larger game consider the .25 Carbine on hi power with Baraccuda Pellets I get 3 full mags 18shots. Lower power higher shot count. The
.25 is a great hunter, the Long gun is a little heavy to carry all day. But, I'm 5'2" tall lol so short guy short gun is preferred!!!!! Lol

hi guys,
Hi Habanero69er. I will be hunting rabbit, doves, duck and what we call guinea foul (which is just a tough chicken) and I may try small antelope.
Im based in Botswana, Africa. We are allowed to have any type of Air guns here we have no restrictions whatsoever on any AIR RIFLE. The problem is that the only agents for the Sumatra is in South Africa (our neighbouring country) where I would mostly likely by the gun ....but, their "gun laws" are different and can only sell / deal in .22 cal and lower, WITHOUT a permit / license. They have larger cals but it would be next to impossible to get a permit / license to buy one ...coz I could get the .25 cal (which is what I really want) from overseas but suffer later for parts / spares and service.

Carl, a .22 Sumatra carbine is quite capable of making 50fpe using 28g EunJin pellets. A few airgunners on this forum kill wild hogs with that same rifle. So, you shouldn't have to worry about making more velocity with a longer barrel in order to hunt what you'll be going after.

An LDC can increase the FPS very slightly, it depends on the design of the internals, I have had mine tested by various people and they have reported a slight increase in velocity. I think this can be attributed to keeping some of the pressure behind the pellet for longer, as you said, similar to having a longer barrel. Not every LDC will do this, the internals are a very big part of this, Neil.

I also want an LDC for my carbine, this gun is loud! I have less than 1000 rounds thru it and have not figured out what it likes beyond the JSB 18.14. The HN 21's? at 50 yards I haven't dialed in yet. 3/4" groups I am not impressed with. But I haven't worked them past 3/4 power. I played at full power? 8 shots max. Their accuracy didn't impress either!
Today I went hunting for the first time for sparrows. The JSB 18's were awesome once my cleaned barrel settled in. I also had washed and lubed my ammo. 12 kills 25-40 yards out of 16 attempts.
