In a nut shell it will be able to still make the 90 hardness quotient in a decade. It is way harder than a 90 durometer standard Urethane. My experience is that it is more like 3 decades of service life. If you change them every decade they will never fail.
It is the only seal capable of containing CO2 gas at pressure. Everything else gets saturated by the CO2 passing through and ruined on the low pressure side.
They also happen to be slick and very strong. The hardness that makes them strong also makes them harder to install. They can be stretched by placing the oring over a tweezer end and then spreading the legs with a driver.
The finish they seal to needs to be a cleaner finish than normal and they need to fit more precisely. The hardness makes them harder to compress so they must fit well to work smoothly.
Our Trip to the moon has a lot to do with the quality of seals available to us in the commercial US market. We have parts here the rest of the world doesn't have because we had NASA driving the development.
I'm the CO2 guy so the investment has been well worth it. Recently I decided to go big on the long term Mil Spec commitment so we could get the best possible pricing from the supplier. It means we can hold the line on the prices and on occasion offer some specials.
A good number of Gunsmiths are picking up the kits I do and are having good luck fitting them. The better Airgunsmiths are also hooked on Mil Spec 90's. The more you see & know the more you realize why they are the good parts.

This is a partial list of uses for the various sizes we have;
#111 is the size we use for the Flat Top Piston rebuild kit and for use on the old school Flat Top Piston we make. Same size oring as on the outside of the 140, 1400, 760 & 1322 valve. Valve normally is a Viton Brown but you will get better life span from the mil spec 90 and it is the only seal really tough enough to be a pump seal. The spare most get in the piston rebuild kit goes on the valve most of the time.
#113 is the Cap size for the old school 60'sand 70's vintage Crosmans as well as the Outer oring for the valves, piercing bodies, extension tubes and bulk adapters. Since the QB is a 160 clone the #113 fits the QB & TF models as well. The MKI & II, S&W 78&79G, Daisy 41, Crosman 166, 160, 167, 180, 187, 400, 600, 677, 1100 and all the CO2 pressure vessel guns made by Palmer(Chapshur rifles & Pistols) use this oring to seal the system. This Oring is available in a bulk pack at a big savings.

#007 is the Bolt Oring for all the early Crosmans. 140, 147, 130, 137, 160, 167, 180, 187, 400, 1300 & 1400.
The Dirty little secret about Airgun Regulators. Since they process atmosphere, the junk gases in atmosphere (like CO2) are going to go right through the orings in your reg. That is why reg orings fail regularly and they will be glad to sell you a new set. If you use Mil Spec 90's your reg will go a lot longer between service intervals. Ninja has already upgraded the Regs for the High output3K out 4500 in regs but the standard regs get Standard 90's. If you want to upgrade your ninja Piston to Mil spec 90's so the lifespan improves dramatically the sizes are 008 for the small side and 012 for the large side of the piston. It is a #013 groove but you stretch a #012 90 Mil spec oring for the proper fit.
The tank to Ninja Reg seal or a On/Off valve is a #016 and the Pin valve seal at the valve for the classic paintball to gun seal is a #015. Ninjas Slide Check can be upgraded to higher pressure with 2 of the Mil spec 90 #015.
The valve seal for the MKI & MKII and the CO2 E & F models is the #014.
#010 is the barrel oring seal for the guns that are .25 cal like Marauders and the Korean guns in .25. #009 for the guns with .22 cal and seal on barrel oring grooves. .22 Marauders and P-Rods use a 70 durometer urethane. FX and Air Arms use a 90 durometer #009 for the barrel and the FX probes also use a 009 on the fill probes.
#003 is for the Bolt orings for .177 cal Modern Crosmans
#004 is the seal for the Bolt of the Sheridan .20 cal or 5MM guns. All Years
#005 is for the Modern Crosman bolts in .22. It fits the MKI & S&W bolts and is the piercing body seal for most of the Crosmans & S&W with seals on the piercing pin shafts.

#210 is a seal in 90 Mil Spec that seals between the Carbon Fiber Vessels and the Din or SCBA valves on thew 4500 PSI Firefighter vessels. In Buna you cannot trust these seals once they are a certain age. $3 well spent.

I have been using the Mil spec o-rings from Mac 1 in my crosman 2100 flat top piston and valve. They have been in the gun one year so far and look brand new. I tried 70 durometer urethane on the valve but they were WAY to soft and blew out after pumping a few times. Also the Mil specs do not tear when installing them like other o-rings.
If you are looking for a good o-ring, Get the Mil spec 90 o-rings from Mac 1.
