Hello fellow shooters , ,I've notice that Olympic shooter's don't usually use scopes they're just using iron sites,or some shooters in general are using iron sites or fixed sites on there airguns . .would it be cool if I put a 1×red dot scope on my magnum velocity airgun?I have one laying around my house and I would like to put it to use...what's u r thoughts?

Like a scope there ONLY able to be set at zero to a single range. Having magnification this zero range is typically out a bit 20-30 yards. There is also well defined aim point with cross hairs.
A Red Dot scope with NO magnification also has only a single place zero can be set at ... tho DOT size is so large it completely covers a target at ranges much past 15-20 yards.
While there OK for a lazy point and shoot, there lack of definitive aim point makes them a pretty sloppy sighting miens.
Also DON'T think they will tolerate a spring guns double direction shot vibration without coming apart inside.

And the dot is going to cover a significant part of your target. The biggest drawback is that even moderately expensive red dots have massive parallax shift as you move your head around. I have a $300 red dot on a rimfire rifle and it is barely acceptable. I can put the rifle in a vice and put the red dot on a bullseye and just moving my head around I can make the dot move 6 inches or more at 30 yards. If you always make sure and have your cheek weld and eye position EXACTLY in the same place every time, you can do ok. Problem is that is difficult to do.
So if you just want to hit tin cans at 20 yards, it will work fine. If you want to shoot targets for groups, you will likely be very disappointed.

Ty guys for your input. ..I kind of figured that...I also didn't take into consideration that it probably won't withstand the recoil of my rifle . ..even though it's not a springer,it's a gas ram...anyway Ty and happy shooting

Why not consider a laser? No paralax, better visibility in diminished light, and maybe even a good excuse to tell the significant other you need a rangefinder to take best advantage of it ;)

A red dot is fine for plinking but of little value for precision shooting.
"Olympic shooter's don't usually use scopes they're just using iron sites"
Olympic shooters do NOT use scopes on the air rifle for standard 10m events. They use diopter sights. The only place where they used a scope is the 'running target/running boar' event, which was dropped from the Olympics. And then it is a specialized scope with 2 aiming points.

Try it out and let us know.

Buy a cheap CO2 plinker and put it on that. Drink beer, then shoot the cans. Just not at the same time. I don't advocate drinking and shooting!

Yea, wouldn't want to waste the beer and get your pants wet by shooting your can while still drinking.
