Title: FWB 300 mini stock question
Post by: DEAN on October 14, 2016, 11:07:55 PM
Has anyone ever taken a FWB  300 and put the action in a Sporter type stock or had one built for one.. Im wanting one as a super accurate Chipmunk or close range squirrel killer but don't want to lug around the big bulky stock version.. or is the action too bulky for a Sporter style stock..?

The FWB 300 has a heavy stock because it's designed as a target rifle and because the action itself is heavy.  Even the FWB 300 Mini or Junior model is heavy at close to 9 pounds in weight.  More importantly, when hunting the Eastern Chipmunk (Tamias Carcharias) it is advisable to use an air rifle with a little more power than the FWB 300's 7 fpe as the beast is known to charge when wounded. ;)

while I realize the FWB action is heavy its not really much heavier then my RWS 54 which weighs 12.5# with a scope, so the 300 action in a sporter stock with small 2x7 or 3x9 scope shouldn't be heavier or at least not much..
Im aware of the dangerous Eastern Chipmunk having hunted them close to 45 yrs :D

My 300 has a maccari artic spring and will shoot thru a squirrel at 30 yards. Pleanty of power and you can actually hit your target.

this is why I would like to have one in a sporter style stock, 30 yds is usually a long shot in the woods most are 15-25 yds..

Dean,

There are much better options for hunting than a 300S.
Use it for what it was intended and get a dedicated hunting rifle...
