Title: First play with the new Prod
Post by: Tucobenedicto on October 13, 2016, 03:00:33 PM
Today its a rainy day,so i decided to do some work on the new Prod.enlarged the transfer port to .110 and putted in four BS113 o rings to try the buffer.I have done very few adjustment and stopped a bit under 17 FPE.Mounted the scope and done a rough sight in ( i have only bout 10 yards indoor) it stacks JSB jumbos in one hole with my LDC on,i must wait to go out for a serious test, but i am optimist about accuracy  :D.
Now i must understand the adjustmement with the Bistaley buffer.
Anyone had some tips about the correct tuning procedure?
Another thing,i expected some ping sound shooting the P rod,but i don't noticed any sound,is this a collateral effect of the buffer mod?
I love this little carbine, the trigger is great and is compact and light, very handy.

There should be tuning info in the link above.

If your using the stock hammer-spring those are good FPE numbers. To get more power with theStaley mod . you'll need to get a heavier spring.

I have a strongest spring,a Gmac power spring, tryed to raise power and it goes up,but the Prod become unefficent and loud.
For now i will keep it at it is now,at 16,5 FPE awerage.
Now i have JSB Jumbos in 5,50 that comed with the Prod as gift and i am planning to go much deeper in the adjustement with Jsb in 5,53 or with H&N FTT in 5,53. I have heard Prod barrels like more 5,52-5,53 pellet heads.
I am thinking to replace the o rings with a single piece rubber washer too,i have read some tuners done this with better consistency and seems to me a cleanest durable solution.
Title: Ping

I have a FFH from Rocker1 and the ping is still there.  I really think it is lower, but I notice it as much as with the factory hammer, etc.  Why?  His extended baffled shroud makes the shot report MFQ, so there is no other sound to mask the ping.  I adjusted my PRod to about 18fpe because that seems to be a good setting for my needs and the shot count is about 25 and gets to 30 with heavier pellets.

My Prod, and most others, really liked the FTT in 5.53 size. Also, with 3orings you can tune to higher levels. 3orings would give about 30-40 more fps with a 3000psi fill.

I have an LDC fitted and no ping,i don't know why,the Prod is sub silent with the actual adjustement.
I can source JSB here,so i will try 5,53 Jumbos first.
I am a newbie on unregulated pcp,i will do my best to go deeper, the Prod seems very good for now,i am happy with this purchase.

You might try the 5.54 also. Possibly the newer barrels are tighter than the older barrels, but many of them prefer the 5.54. Mine is one of the 5.54 shooters.

i am planning to remove the barrell and push some pellet in with a rod,i have a 40 X microscope at my job place,so i can inspect the pellets to see how the rifling mark the heads,if i can take some decent pictures i will post here, can be interesting.

The Prod is great, only i noticed a bit of friction in the hammer while cocking, there is only a bit of silicon oil in that area, not the right lube for steel on steel applications,i will try some polish and a bit of light moly grease or graphite.
