Has anyone done this? I've looked over Bob's .25 QB78 build, and I got to thinking that it might be a little easier (cheaper?) to start with a Marauder barrel vs a LW barrel blank. Ideally this would be a longer range (150ish yard) target/plinking gun with occasional use as a pesting rifle (HPA).
This is probably 2 or 3 projects out, but .25 marauder barrels pop up occasionally for fairly cheap and it got my gears turning.
Machining/customizing is not an issue; just thinking cost and minimal custom work to make this happen.
Thoughts? Concerns? Criticisms? I'll take em all....
Thanks again,
Kevin

No question they are good barrels. Depends on where the cost savings is, because I consider $135 for a fitted barrel at is threaded, a pretty good deal: http://www.airguns.net/classifieds/show_ad.php?adNum=128668&adSort=&StartingAd=0&NumberOfPages=6 (http://www.airguns.net/classifieds/show_ad.php?adNum=128668&adSort=&StartingAd=0&NumberOfPages=6)
Roy does nice work, and for me, I couldnt do that myself like you can. I think its a great idea and quite feasible, also given that there are tubes already available as well.

No kidding... I don't think I'd mess with it for this money (unless I literally fell into a .25 barrel for a sandwich). Thanks for the links.

Be a little shorter, but if you cut off the old breech and remachine it to QB specs, it would work. Once you trim off the machined breech, it's pretty much a short barrel blank; ready to be machined to fit whatever.
