Title: REX Pistol Down for the Count
Post by: Berky on September 18, 2016, 08:21:12 PM
With less than 100 shots the Rex broke. The arm off the cocking device broke in half. Looked like a weak link to start with. $700 gun with hardly any use on it.
This type of thing is really unacceptable. Why can't manufacture's try doing some long term or high usage testing before releasing products.

That's terrible... But if you want to see this as a silver lining, you could get in touch with a tuner and have a much better piece made up!

It's still under the 1 year warranty, but it still hassle. Gotta call first, pay shipping etc....Situations like this, they should pay shipping both ways! Why should poor design or inferior parts cost me money after I over paid for the item to begin with. (yes..I knowingly over paid because it was something I wanted)

That really stinks.  I know stuff happens, but it's really not fair you gotta pay for shipping imo.

Thanks for the offer Travis!

I called Ventura Air, explained my issues, then proceeded to explain my issue with this deal costing me time and money. They coughed upped the shipping both ways. I also asked them to investigate "why" this may have happened. The gun is on the way. We'll see...

Sooner or later, Travis will get it for tuning. Thanks again Travis for stepping up.

Awesome offer from Travis to help you out.

Glad to hear the retailer is willing to take care of the shipping cost for you. Can't ask for much more than that when something breaks.

Boris from Pyramid Air called me today. In a nut shell, he said it was probably just a random issue. He said it could have been metal fatigue, more than likely from improper metal treatment.
It was nice he called me and discussed the issue. Pretty snappy service. Gun is already on its way back.

Crummy to hear.  I was wondering about that piece myself but luckily I have over 800 rounds with no issues yet.
I did have to locktite the allen screw holding the lock/spring to close the action.

Did you ever get your REX P back? All is good?  I just ordered myself a REX Rifle .25, hopefully all is good, I'll be putting it through it's paces real soon.

Only use JSB. It's a close range coyote killer for the trap line. Drops them like a rock. My opinion, ok gun,  over priced.

I tried 6 different pellets in my REX .25 yesterday, only two stayed in the breech without falling out :(...hopefully one of them groups decent enough to hunt with.  Will shoot for groups soon, raining all day yesterday and looks like rain again today... ::)
