2013 model, around 30 hours, no hour meter yet but on order. Original owner kept very explicit notes on it. Don't know if it got laid on its side or what, but been running almost an hour and not building pressure. It has enough to blow some nasty looking water out every 15 minutes. How long should it tale to show pressure on the gauge? Was operated just last week but made a long trip from the Rockies by FedEx. May be very glad I got a 30 day 'no questions asked return warranty" in writing. having to run it off the generator, all my hookups are backards
Opinions please??
Charles.

Shut of down at 2 hours, still not building pressure. Purged all 3 valves every 15 minutes, guess it is the 3rd stage that was sorta milky white mixed with water. I noticed a place in the power cord that appeared "mashed". Going to get my fluke meter out early in the morning and ohm out the power cord. that way while at Home Depot to get the electrical parts to hard wire it, I may need to change the power cord too. The oil is Bauer synthetic oil, filters are Bauer filters and have just been changed.
Any other ideas where to look for a problem?

ive heard this story before with the same model and the 3rd stage going out.. No i dont have details because i dont recall, but id return it .. A rebuild professionally done can cost 1900 bux

The more I think about it, I think even though there was a big sign on top of the container, FedEx had this other than upright at some time during the trip. The reason i say this, the 3rd stage purge hose was a little dirty, but nothing as it is now. The inside of the hose looks the color of cream of chicken soup. Only thing, the compressor was stiff full of oil. Yes it was shipped with oil inside. I didn't think it was a good idea but the dealer said they ship them like this all the time. i will call him in the morning, open half day, and tell him to send FedEx to pick it up and return it to him. this is his headache not mine. I have already gone well over what would be normal

sounds good, the depth of financial risk and headache with compressors makes airgun problems look pedestrian.

Bad thing about it, as things stand now, either have a compressor or get out of PCPs

get a shoebox, no hassle , reliable, easy to ship if theres a problem, etc

I wouldn't consider a shoebox an option if already I had ordered a real compressor. And for shoebox price range I would try the altaros new booster compressor.
Just my 2c

I don't know about the Shoebox but have considered it. From what I am seeing, by the time I purchase a Shoebox and a oilless compressor, I could buy an Omega. But that was just a thought before I happened across this Used Bauer. The price on the Bauer was very good from what I have seen others sell for and advertised for. In the long run purchasing the Bauer may have been a hugh mistake, or just a mess up by FedEx. I read a small amount about the Altaros, but only after placing the order for the Bauer. Know little about it.
Thanks for the input.

Do you have any valves venting? It must build 1900 psi before it shows pressure IF YOUR GAGE is on the upstream side of the valve.
This is how mine was assembled. It will not show pressure till the valve is opened.

No valves venting I have found, even mixed soap and water in a spray bottle(learned that in '69) but I am not exactly sure if I found them all.
My gauge is on the compressor side of the fill valve. Do you have another gauge to show the actual compressor pressure?
Thanks for the input

It in now in the hands of the dealer to file a damage claim on FedEx or take care of the repairs, takes a load off me. He gave me the option of getting a refund or wait till it is sent direct to Bauer for a rebuild. That depends on timing, if the rebuild won't take months on end, yea I will wait (as long as the warranty agreement is extended by the dealer). If it is just being sent back to the dealer, who does not have the setup to rebuild one by his own admission. I will be getting a refund, but that decision will be Monday at the earliest also depending on FedEx.

Got a couple of phone calls today, actually heading to Home Depot to get the wire for installation. Seems if you turn the valve the correct way, it runs and pumps air ;D . Never would have thought that one valve that about sticks out in your face would cause it, but it did. Both tanks, even after a couple hours of cool time and topped of are sitting at 4500 psi. I have got to measure the intake air filter and get at least one on order, might even have a part # on it.
A BIG thanks for the 2 Gentlemen that called

Add me to that list also.
Nothing more frustrating than buying a big ticket item ( or small for that matter ) and it doesn't work.

The saga continues. The Bauer Jr is crated and hard boxed headed, when FedEx picks it up, to the nearest Bauer Facility to me, Fairhope Alabama for rebuild/repair... FINALLY. Even though it is working to a degree, according to Bauer, it is not operating as it should. Turning one on its side long enough to saturate the air filter with oil and having oil running out of the air cleaner cover, according to Bauer is not a good way to treat a HPA compressor, along with the belt shroud being broken. Depending on parts availability, should be back in less than 2 to 3weeks including shipping, if FedEx can get it there with additional damage. I crated it this time much better than the pallet was I received it on.

Especially a Altaros over a Shoebox for one specific reason, my 40 year old shop compressor decided the rust inside the tank was thin enough now to blow a hole in it. I had a place welded by a neighbor that is a professional welder a couple years back. He told me then it was doomed. Well, my old compressor output was 7.7 cfm @ 90psi, it ran all my air tools without having to wait on it to catch up. In the last 40 years, seems the output standard on compressors has changed. You no longer can buy a "portable" compressor like my old one that puts out over 5.7 cfm, therefore, I had to find a larger one. Luckily Tractor Supply had a good one on sale for a excellent price, 60 gal tank, 3.75 hp 220v with 11.7 cfm @ 90 psi output, 155 psi cut off pressure. So if the Bauer ended up being returned to the dealer for a refund, the Altaros would definitely be an option. At least the old shop compressor lasted 40+ years, now if the new shop compress or will last even 20 years, I doubt I will be using it by then..lol But now with the Bauer Jr heading to a Bauer Dealer for rebuild/repair hopefully this mess is about over.

Hope the Bauer comes through for you, but I'll probably wind up with the Altaros if anything....

Oh this isn't Bauer, this is all FedEx, damaged in shipping. I won't say any more because it was just picked up, there will be more damage by the time it travels that 200 miles after what I just saw. Don't ask... smh

Maybe see if they can ship the replacement without oil, just as a preventative measure.

No idea. I was told to ship it with the oil left in it. It is going to an Authorized Bauer Dealer/Repair Center in Fairhope Al, just north of Mobile. I am sure they ship them every day. It is out of my hands, but I do agree.
