Title: INSANE SHOT
Post by: DarrylS on September 10, 2016, 02:28:16 AM
...LOL...Crazy shot. I've been shootin' my 1322 (new 2 months or so ago) at about 7 yards since I bought it. 5 pumps indoors. The "dang" thing can be scary accurate with Daisy flats and Premier hollow points, but I'm "old", can't see great at all and shake a bit at times... ::)...I hate squirrels...they drive me nuts as they are all over my house and the neighbor's and have caused damage to both our homes.
...The neighbor's house is 85 feet from mine. I spotted one of those vermin on the peak of her roof and went in to grab the 1322. I gave it 10 pumps (and one (1) extra) and dropped in a Gamo .22 round ball...15.43 gr. I figured..."What the heck"... I held about 3" over it's head and dropped it dead where it stood with no movement WITH OPEN SIGHTS...That will NEVER happen again. I did see that those ".22 cal balls" can kill cleanly in a hurry. Now to tell her that there's a dead body on the peak of her house. Maybe I'll just wait a day or two and see if the hawks or vultures will take care of it...LOL... :P

Great shot. I love sending tree rats to that big oak tree in the sky. Just out of curiosity; what's beyond the peak of your neighbors roof?

...That's a very relevant question...Up until yesterday, the only shots I've ever taken were ground shots or shots "IN" my attic... >:(...With that being said, there's a 30 acre pond and trees beyond her peak...No homes...Been shootin' too long to not be aware of where those pesky lead chunks are heading... :)

...HA...No need to alert the nice lady about the "corpse" on her roof...All that's left is the tail and a bit of "fuzz" and blud...( :P)...where it fell after some critter took advantage of a free meal... :)...

Nice work with the round ball.  Gotta love the 13xx platform. They can be super accurate.

Good shot indeed. Reminds me of a shot I took one time where the sucker ran to another limb then fell out of a tree 50ft high and landed with a loud WACK on the neighbor's roof of their crummy trailer. I was crying laughing then I saw one of them get a ladder and toss the critter to their dog. I was hurting from laughing so hard over the whole ordeal but especially the sound of it landing on their roof. lol

Nicely done Darryl. Congrats man. Just goes to show, if you can think it, you can believe it, & if you can believe it, you can make it happen ;D

There ain't no reason to let being "old" & "shaky" stop you from trying to do the best you can do. Worst case scenario, get a stock for it & strap a nice lil pistol scope on her, that should help the shaky issue & help you be better able to take even further shots a bit easier

...I don't expect to make too many shots like that one...LOL...But I'm havin' fun and keepin' some of those darn rodents at bay... :P...Believe it or not I actually do have a 2289 stored away in a closet. Just seems that the 1322 is a bit less conspicuous when walkin' around the house...and it really does shoot well...

I love great shooting, and I love happy stories.  This is the best of both worlds!

I wish you more luck with this type of endeavor :)

I love the 13xx-pumpers- mine is only a 1377, but it has a number of close-range starlings and HOSPs.  I really wanna get a 1322.

Nice shot!  Your 1322 is definitely "scary accurate".

Now the way I am reading it is the neighbor's house is 85ft away.  So the shot was 90+ feet?.  That's pretty darn good for a 1322 with open sights, plus the round ball which is not supposed to be as accurate as pellets.  Nice job.

You think you were surprised? How do you think the squirrel felt? I'm sure that when he saw you pointing that little gun his way he was laughing... "That little thing will never.........."
LOL... good shooting.

Outstanding.

I bet that ball hit hard.

I'm going to read up more on .22 round ball.

But can't dismiss long shots!

Nice shooting Darryl. One of the best feelings in the world when you pull off a shot like that.
Don't worry about the carcass. Birds'll clean em' up.

...Thanks for all the congratulations and "nice shootin' " comments guys...LOL...But the thanks really must go to Mother Nature for the lack of wind, the Laws of Chance which were in that "ball's" favor and all the planets being in correct alignment with the Earth's magnetic poles...There is no way I could blame that shot on any skill on my part. I think I coulda tripped and fell with that 1322 carelessly  cocked and with the safety off and had it gone off that squirrel woulda still dropped...LMBO... :P...Seems those balls can be nasty...

When I was a kid, and you could still do those kinds of things - I'd aim at a tree with what had to be 500 to a 1000 crows in it.  Mostly noise to get them to move on mind you.  Never had one drop out of the tree dead though, and it wasn't lacking FPE either (.44 magnum, 8" barrel).

Only luck might have been still winds, nice shot indeed Darryl  ;D

Nice shot. You have me wanting to try mine out :)

...Believe me when I say that the 1322, with a true marksman behind it, can probably do some incredible shooting. I only wish I was a true "marksman"...That shot was pure luck on my part but don't underestimate those round ball .22's...The penetration that I've seen is fantastic...Have fun... :)
