I have been looking for a new gun and I have been shooting my 25 cal synrod for 2plus years and I am wanting an upgrade. I am not in an area where I can go to a shop and put my hands on the different guns, must less shoot different levels. I have read out guns with regulators and some that are self regulated. I really do not know the difference. Back to main ? IS THE DAYSTATE REGALE XL IN 25 cal as good as a 22 cal same model?

Unless you feel compelled to go big bore at 40 FPE with 24gr pellets the Regal Huntsman XL .25 is both gorgeous and accurate and really does not need a regulator to get 3 clips of accurate and consistent POI at realistic 30 to 50 yard hunting ranges for small game

Could you give me a idea of the value because I do not want to overpay for a used gun?

Mine cost me ~$1,200.00 from Precision Air but with the drop in the Euro they are less expensive in fact Air guns of Arizona may have a sale on them right now but for a used one in excellent condition under $1,000 and with some wear and tear but not beat on ~$800.00 as a low end number

Just paid $1,049 plus shipping for mine. It is my second Regal, the first being a .22. Out of the box, I can report that three magazines of good velocity and accuracy (30 rounds) per fill is quite a stretch. Mine gets about 15-20 good shots per fill, out of the box. The avg. velocity of the good shots would be about 820, with H&N Cuda Hunters. This is just north of 40 fpe. I think 30 good shots would be just dandy, but mine is not there, yet. I just backed down the velocity with 3/8 of a turn of the screw adjustment for the hammer, and still have not gotten back to the range to see how it shoots now. I will be tickled with 35 fpe if this rifle can get to 30 good shots. BTW, this thing is LOUD. It sounds like a .22 short, even with the factory LDC.

I have a Regal XL .22 always wanted a .25 so this is very interesting for me too. I have read many good reviews on the .25 I have wanted another .25 and have been on the fence with the Regal XL .25 and WildCat .25 Laminate Stock.
Best of Luck Brother Man

You might consider the Air Wolf. :) My .22 gets well over 200 shots per fill. It has the onboard computer that keeps track of shot count and controls the solenoid for consistent velocity. I too have been looking at the XL.

SCShooter, I have the 22 Regal XL and it's good for 3 mags worth of pellets at 2% ES maybe just bumping 3%. I Don't think you'll get that kind of ES out of the 25 for that many shots. Jimineecricket has one for sale on the Yellow where he states he's getting 15 shots from 824-860-828 and 10 shots from 840-860-840. The airtube is only 160cc so there's not much to work with. Here is the link to his gun.
