Title: New(to me) Mrod.25 first attempt
Post by: Tims229 on August 23, 2016, 11:56:18 AM
Ok, I took out the new to me mrod. 25 to see how it handled long range. I didn't make the cut with it mostly due to wind over 10mph, but she did group pretty well. I got some footage it and shooting at 50yards that I'll post after I edit and post on YouTube. I must admit this rifle surprised me. Many guys on here swear by them, but I had to see for myself. YouTube link will be posted later today.

I ran two mags of H&N barracuda HP over the chrono to see how it shoots and the results were pretty impressive.  This Mrod is not regulated, but does have a SSG installed and an aftermarket port as well.  Not experienced tuning Mrods, but with this string I'm not going to change much yet.

That looks like an excellent string with only 11 fps spread.

Good shooting also. Shooting in the wind is tough.

Shooting off front and rear bags instead of the bi-pod might help the long range groups some.

That is a good point.  I've been trying to get more used to long range shooting with wind since wind is pretty common here in Northwest Iowa due to higher elevation. I'll have to try shooting off bags and see if that helps me.  I'm pretty happy with the consistency of this rifle. Removes some of the variations of long range shooting with air rifles.

try some eunjin 43.3 gr in that wind, also does good with 26 gr predator red tips] but by far in the wind the eunjins worked well in mine, but mine is tuned, ;D

Ok have to give that a try. I bought this rifle from another GTA member and judging by my shot string I posted earlier, I believe this one is tuned as well.
