The arrows come at 430gr with a point of 100gr

Now, archery is much more a field of expertise for me than Airgunning is and I have some strong point of views in the matter.
A 600gr arrow traveling at 170 fps is more than enough for any big game in the continent,
a cut on impact fix blade broadhead 2 or 3 blade is the most devastating head for arrows,.....and I have a lot of them ;D ;D ;D

My plan is to set up the arrows with either 160gr 3 blades on a 125gr adapter or 190 gr 2 Blades on that 125gr adapter to bring the total arrow weight up to 620-650gr total

Also I'm sure that using the low power is going to be plenty ( will see after the Chono numbers if I'm right ) so I'm going to start from there.
I know what kind of damage arrows do so the beginning of the zeroing in process is going to be a bit intimidating ;D ;D
But I have a pretty good archery set up, ( I'll need to go and get a couple new bales shortly )

I'll scope the rifle with either a straight 4 X or a 2-7 X we'll see what sit better on it.

I guess it's legal to hunt with in Hawaii, not sure what other states allow the use of an air bow.
NY just legalized the use of crossbows only a year or so and many did not want it to happen. Im sure the air bow won't have much of a chance here.
If it's not legal to hunt with, I personally think the novelty will wear off. If it is legal to use on small game, I dont see any advantage over pellets. The disadvantage is the cost of lost or broken arrows.
I mentioned in another post, I was able to create a bolt for my .58 cal. DAQ accuracy was good and it shot ar 350fps.
I don't want to sound like a kill joy but not much use for it in NY.

I decided to go for the 4 x scope, don't need all that much magnification to shoot the Heart/Lung area ;D ;D

Couldn't fight the feeling huh brother ;D Just had to try the merger of both these addictive sports that you're all too in love with. Can't wait to see how she performs in the field.
robertr, Manny tends to keep the range between himself and his quarry pretty short, like 30 yards or less mostly, so the time between the shot being fired and the impact on the target will be very short. Any hog unfortunate enough to find itself on his radar & within range only has just one destiny.
To wind up as the meat for a well deserved and delicious meal ;D

It would be legal for Hogs and other non-game animals in Texas at this time.

Once a noise gets to a certain level I don't think it matters if it's a little louder. Deer are the only animals I have every seen duck an arrow because the drop a body length instantly preparing to leap. What helps is not to shoot when a deer is looking at you with both years up. Doe ducked and twisted away from my crossbow bolt last year at 20 yards. It was staring at me prepared to bolt away. Left me scratching my head for sure.

I don't believe any critter is able to jump the string at 15 yards :)
I will treat this combo as I would hunt with my bows, stalking and taking offhand shots,
so close and personal is key and stalking is the name of the game :)

8) Look out hogs and things...I love the way my Korean rifles look and feel too...That one's got a nice dragon on it :D ...I blew the dust off my bear bow today...Thinkin about Bow hunting again this year...I'll be watching this thread, Manny... Have fun with it....So.....with that 285gr broad head and your arrow, you're gonna be pushing 7 hundred some odd grains thru her???? I can't wait to see the chrony numbers and the energy it'll put out

I'm gonna start off with the 315gr heads and that should get the total weight to 645gr,
I'm trying to get in touch with the AirBolt makers/technicians to see what is the best way to take off either the nock or the front adapter, after I get one of them out I'll be looking for some tubing to foll the shaft,
I'm hoping at that point to be able to get the arrows in the 800gr +

the suspense is killing me,? looks like a lot of fun your having manny,just setting it up.waiting the out come,with the short distance you shoot from why not use a laser site,seems it would keep it light imo.

I actually almost left it open sights but since I'm planning to get a couple more people to hunt with this gun arrow combo too I felt a 4x scope would be the best compromise,
fingers crossed, looks like today it finally be a dry one :)

Manny, have you ever thought about offering guided hog hunts? Not sure if it would be allowed or legal where you hunt, or if you'd even want to. But I bet there would be vacationers looking to try something "extreme" like that while there if you get the word out.
I bet you could make some huge money on the side guiding.

Well, I used to guide Bowhunters back in my Bowhunting days, I took guys that came from Florida, Alaska, California, Canada, Georgia, Montana, Washington, New York, Texas and I probably forgot a few places :)
Fact is that Bowunting can be done in State lands but Airgun Hunting is only Private lands, the places I can go in it's not like if I can start taking in all kinds of people, also back in the day I had much more hunting time whether now I'm only able to hunt on Wednesday.

Thanks Manny. I figured you'd laugh at the idea. I had no idea you guiding bow hunts before. Too bad they don't allow Airgun hunting on public lands.
