Title: My RWS 34 Panther
Post by: Nathan on April 10, 2011, 03:21:20 PM
To say I like this gun is a understatement.  Mine wears a Barska 3X12X44 Airgun scope with a Gamo scope stop. I de-burred it and installed a Vortek PG-2 kit with seal. I stuffed the hollow stock with an old t-shirt to help deaden the sound. It's not the most expensive, most powerful, it doesn't have the nicest bluing or stock gun of all the guns I own. But it has fast become one of my favorites. It is a smooth shooting wicked accurate ~ 13 ft lbs. It shoots  Wal-Mart CPHP almost as well as it does JSB Exact. I don't know how many lands the barrel has ( 8, 10, 12, 24, or if it's German or Chinese) and I don't care.  :D

That is an excellent shooter and glad you like it.
I would never have known my 34 .22 had an outsourced barrel if it had not been for the GTA, But it has not changed my opinion of it.

She is German and a pleasure to shoot.Rob

mine has the china barrel and could tell when it was out in the sun. they have a brown look to them but it is accurate as *(&^. is yours 22 or 177? and if you got the trig. upgrade from mike melick, it would make it 100% better.

You might want to get rid of the t-shirt and fill the butt stock with spray foam insulation. the t-shirt will absorb moisture.

My 34P has a Chinese 12 groove barrel as well but doesn't suffer from the red tinge look.I also use ballistol and I think it may be a layer of rust after bluing so ballistol will clean that right up.I'm happy my 350 doesn't have a Chinese barrel,,but I guess I have to live with the 34p having one as she's a accurate as ole heck and I'm not gonna get rid of her.

Thanks,

Troy

Sounds like you got one sweet shooter. The 34's are great. My 34 .22 I tuned with JM's GRT kit has the 12 land barrel. I would also not have known if it wasn't for the GTA. She is very accurate with H&N FTT.

Just got in from shooting my new 8 land 34 .177 pro. Very happy with it. Dime size groups with AA 8.4's. Going to give her a little lube tune this weekand.

For a .22 with 12 land barrel I find the FTT's best. They fit snug. With 8 land they fit very tight. Dustin

Thats a nice looking rig.

I agree the self expanding foam is the way to go.

I will try the foam as it seems to be the consensus of all you here. I just hope I don't make a mess.  :D
