Title: Air Up
Post by: mwbutcher on July 25, 2016, 08:35:38 PM
Seeing that some matches require 60 shots, is there enough time to air up during a match? What is the process for doing so, carry a guppy tank or make a run back to your main tank.

I have never done this before but definitely want to.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

I carry a 45 min scba tank and place it in the middle of the course with my airforce talon . I have a 90ci tank for my Disco that I carry in a back pack from lane to lane.  There is plenty of time to air up in between Lanes.

Excellent, thank you for the reply.  How many times do you fill in a typical match then?  From what I am reading here, about 60 shots per match give or take?

I only fill once with my Airforce Talon because it is regulated and I practice before the shoot. If I fill before I start I wouldn't need to for at least 70 shots. With the Discovery I fill every 3 lanes just to make sure my POI doesn't change.

Yup plenty of time, and some matches will have tanks on the course for people to use.
Here's a good tip I hadn't thought of that Hector gave me:
Quote
You CAN carry along your pony tank just, PLEASE, make sure that when you refill:
1 you tell everyone around,
2 wait for everyone that is aiming to take their shots (especially for the purging of the line), and
3 ALWAYS point the rifle downrange when refilling.

The few places where pony tanks are not allowed is because one of these guidelines was not followed and complaints ensued.

I refill one to two time a match.

Excellent and thank you all.  Great tips, I most certainly don't want to be the cause of new rules because of my practice.  Kind of like talking during a putt......

Thanks again,
Mark
