Title: That cabela's deal for 399.00 for marauders question
Post by: shorty on July 17, 2016, 09:04:40 PM
25 cal gen 2 synrod:
I sure went for this deal (actually my wife did for me) but, it didn't dawn on me that the gun DID NOT come with a degassing tool, a depinger, the cheek riser was in the up position, and the breech screws in the valve were way overtightened "stripped".
Almost forgot, fill fitting seems different to as it has a small screen filter too.

It also "seems" to have had some surface rust on the pressure tube " ever so slightly "

I am curious to know if I missed something in the fine print about these things or have anyone of you other guys noticed the same thing ?

It makes no difference to me because it was dismantled and modified before it was even shot but just curious.

Did it come from the bargain room at Cabelas, if so it could have used and returned from a customer.
Otherwise you should follow up with the sales team at Cabelas and have a talk about product quality regards of you totally disassembling the Mrod.

It really made no difference for me since everything worked out. Just wanted to know if anyone else noticed these things with their purchase.

I am not sure normal "buy and shoot" guys would notice or I got a refurb when it should have been a new gen2.

I thought I read somewhere they don't include the degassing tool anymore (have to buy it separately now).

I bought one, wood stock, it shipped direct from the factory not from Cabelas. everything looked good, it only came with one mag though.

Gen II dropped the degassing tool. Mind actually came with one but I was told it wouldn't.

I purchased the 399 Cabela's special. Synthetic stock 25. It shipped direct from Crosman, did yours?

I did notice what could be surface rust on the trigger, but I could be wrong, its kind of a reddish tinge and easily viewable in sunlight.

I have not messed with breech screws, so I don't know if anything is wrong there. This is my first PCP.

The cheek rest was a bit raised on mine out of the box as well. Not flush to be sure.

Don' the Gen 2s come with depinger?

Same thing here. Mine came last week and didn't have a degassing tool, but didn't say it would.

Personally I would return it even if everything looks OK. You bought a "NEW" Marauder and that one isn't. Even though it looks good it was return for a reason and don't forget the stripped threads.

If you keep it and something goes wrong down the road they'll accuse YOU of doing the damage, ( and other damage you might not be aware of yet ) and might even void the warranty. Just me two cents.

He is not worried about it cause he already turned it up to 70 or so fpe... valve and other mods...if  you meant Shorty's Mrod..?

Out for Delivery... probably about 3-4 pm but have had a few things come early as 11 am.

Like I said, I am not too worried about all the things missing or wrong. I just wanted to know if anyone else noticed it.

My Gen 2 .22cal was not like this when I got it 2 years ago. Maybe mine was built late Friday or mad Monday.

It did say ship from the manufacturer though.

Nothing really out of place with mine but two things. Red barrel shipping cap missing and velocity at 2600# was <650 fps. ( HS- 5 5/6  HT 8 2/3). Most 25's I've got vel. was in the upper 700's with a HS ~4 and throw ~3.
Maybe they didn't want me to suffer from the punishing recoil of this beast. ;D
