Title: Dragon claw breech
Post by: Whatsquirrel on July 08, 2016, 01:35:59 AM
After the recent mods to the dragon claw, the breech will blow open during the shot. It's not as bad when shooting .498 diameter 145-175gr slugs. But when I shoot the .501 diameter 209gr slugs it blows open & I get a huge blast of air in the face. It fits pretty snug over the rear oring. Any ideas on how to fix this.

Yeah both are good. Seems to be tight also. When I close the breech I have turn work it closed over the orings.

Sounds like the rings get twisted and rebound opening the breech when fired. Try slightly smaller rings, they seal with pressure against the sleeve not by just being stiff. Correctly sized o-rings should slide relatively easy.

I use silicone grease on rings.   Works nice

I think that answer is on Your words... In here everyone uses .498 bullets and .500 roundball in Dragon claw and it works well. That .501 is way too wide for diameter... At least what I've been told and what I've been casted for Dragon Claw..

Yep ^^^ everyone I've ever dealt with liked the .500 round ball better than anything else.

I witnessed couple times when one poor fellow shot jacketed bullet with Recluse that same result....Breech blown open and o-ring was history. I assume same thing could happening when You shoot too wide bullet. It is too tight and air goes both way..Just quessing.

Yup those .500 RB's and .498 EPP/UG's which I think are two good choice for Dragon Claw.
 Also 909 .45 likes EPP/UG's and RB's but thats a other story
