My D48 in .22 wears a non a/o 2-7x32 Leapers. It is a Refurb, and someday I may put a kit into her, but for now she has no "twang" and is a really smooth shooter. The t05 trigger is not as nice as the Rekord on the HW97, but what is?? She shoots the CPHP at 804.67 avg for about 20.3 FPE. Here is a 10m target shot standing, offhand, unsupported. The scope is hard to use without the A/O in my small urban yard. My longest (legal) shot is about 25 yards and it seems like the parallax is set at 50yds or so. At the top magnification, all is blurry if not closer than 20 yards or so.. It feels so much more compact, yet lighter, than the HW97 or my RWS460...
Thanks for your time,

nice shooting! I like the 48, my .22cal is a tack driver as well I think because the way they balance makes them feel a little lighter than the 460, the 460 is a long gun comes in at 8.1 lbs the 48 is 8.5 lbs but is shorter but either way you got to love them.

Yeah, my arms are "short" ( my total wingspan is 67 inches, i only know because my 8 year old son had to measure it for class last night), the 48 seems to really balance well for me.
I have had to change the butt pad on my 460 to a really thin one, to decrease the Length of Pull, since I have had a challenging time finding the balance point on the 460 where it was comfortable to shoot offhand..

I'm thinkin about buying another 460 in .22cal and do a barrel chop on it to see how it performs with a shorter barrel, it'll be more of a carbine length then and not so nose heavy, it may turn out to be and awesome hunter!

Nice. The 48 does balance very well, and I find it great to shoot off-hand too even though it's a relatively heavy gun. It just seems to acquire the target quickly and not deviate/move much from it. Probably because of the shorter barrel.. so that much of the weight is in the center and slighly to the back of the rifle in front of the trigger guard.

the heavier M48 holds the firing cycle better
less vibrations since they are spreaded over a whole lot of MASS, 8.6 pounds compared to a M34 with 7.3 pounds and 660 fps and a 19" barrel
that barrel in a M48 is 17" long and FIXED
and 800 fps in a side level M48 is a sweet thing to shoot

Nice rifle, I’ve always liked the M48/52/54 platform (I’ve owned 4 so far). I have a refurbished .22 M52 and it’s a super gun. I’ve always like the compact design of the Diana sidelevers, and I never found the side lever loading to be awkward. You should really consider getting a better airgun rated AO scope. I’m not saying you need more magnification or larger objective, just an AO. An AO will make a world of difference in close in shooting. Right now, I do probably do 95% of my shooting in my basement (where I have almost exactly 10M), so for me, AO scopes are a must have.

Agreed. I have A/O on all my other rifles and man it makes a world of difference! The scope came with the rifle and has mil dots so I am trying to use it, but you're right. It only seems to be "in focus" at 7x at around 25+ yards so it's kind of a waste of time here, despite the mil dots..
