Title: Meisterkugeln Pellets
Post by: cd619 on June 30, 2016, 08:42:08 AM
I've been shooting my 2260 from 33 yards, trying to work on my groupings.   I picked up a tin of Meisterkugeln Pellets and was very pleased when I looked at them... they seem to be very consistently made.    I had been using Crosman Premier Hollowpoint Pellets, really just because they had been on sale, and my gun loves them.   However, the Meisterkugelns consistently pull to the left.   I cannot figure out why.

When I shot using the Daisy PrecisionMax, my shot groupings were wider... I understand that and could see the inconsistencies with the pellets that probably caused it.  But, what would cause the Meisterkugelns to always go left?

I am sure someone here knows why.

I've seen it in my guns. If they group better then I just reset my zero. I suspect it has to do with the weight of of the pellet and consistently of the pellet itself.

It is very common for different pellets to have different points of impact out of the same rifle/pistol.  He trick is to find the pellet that groups the tightest and then re zero for them if necessary.

Like the others have said,,,, very common for different pellets to have different points of impact from the same air gun.

Could be your pellets are spiralling.  Try shooting at a different distance and see where the POI moves to... :-*

most likely the Meisterkugelin's are a tighter fit and are engaging the rifling more positively creating more spin rotation and a more accurate POI not to mention possibly higher FPS, if you have a Chrony, test the different pellets and see for yourself, better pellets can give you better results in most cases...

Maybe the Meisters don't shoot to the left... the Crosmans shoot to the right, and you just zeroed for their point of impact.  :o

That is pretty good.

Some of the time it will be cause by harmonics... but how each pellet fits each barrel and how the shape flys can cause different amounts of spin drift due to the Magnus force...

I like that one also.

Re-zero with the Meisterkugeln if they're giving you the best group.

At 25-30 yards I've found Meisters. to be about the best wadcutter. They usually shoot good in any gun. I use Crosman an Daisy pellets for ballast or paper weights.

I know this is an old thread, but for what it's worth, I just tried these pellets in my .22 Disco.  At 30 yards, they shot about 1" low and 1" right of the POI with my trusty 18 grain JSB's.  However, they grouped even better.  I re-zeroed my gun and will test further.

I was looking for a medium to light pellet with a flat point for back yard ground squirrels and I think I've found it!

I have not experimented much with the Meisters in .22, however in .177 they have proven to be the best wadcutter at distances beyond 25 yards.  That has been the case with several rifles, whether leaving the muzzle at 600fps or 900fps.  There's always been at least one domed pellet that will do better at those ranges but they often do well enough to convert a house sparrow into a cloud of feathers.

Obviously, these are republican pellets.  They need to be paired up with a republican rifle/scope combo to hit center.

Must be!  I think there's some truth to that, pretty much all my rifles are zeroed with domed pellets and when I shoot wadcutters, they usually land to the right (and down if similar in weight, which I presume is BC-related).

The 35 to 45 yard squirrel kills I've done have been with the Meisterkugeln and its heavier brother the Supermag, both in .177 through a stock Gamo CFX.  If those were just lucky headshots, I can say they both beat all contenders when I did some target testing to 30 yards. A very close runner up was the Crosman Ultra Magnum. Those RWS wadcutters are all I hunt with (pest control). They have done hundreds of squirrels for me.
