I started this project over last winter. As some of you might notice, it's basically a re-do of my .20 lefty disco carbine.
This go-round I wanted to go as light as possible go up to .22cal and also try a thimble so I could rotate, and remove the barrel with a
minimal amount of disassembly.
So here is the 2024 aluminum tube and some of the long parts.

This is most of the small parts including the Don Cothran valve (which as per Don's instructions is not designed for low pressure use..but..co2 is what I shoot) the lightened P'rod striker with delrin insert 44g, aluminum rva, and the aluminum breech and front and rear barrel band. A note on that last combo. tying down and stabilizing the front of the Crosman 22xx breech's has been done lots of ways, having a barrel band that clamps the barrel down against the lower part of the breech is just something I wanted to try. At this point I also guess you figured out I shoot long gun left shoulder so the bolt is on the left.
The Sheridan/Williams peep sight is again something that I salvaged from the last build, along with the M'rod trigger group.

The finished carbine grew a bit from it's last life due to my upping the barrel length to 20" so total length is 36".
The weight worked out well, leaving out the gauge, gauge block and going to a lot of aluminum lowered the weight with some co2 loaded
to 4 Lbs 3.5 oz's
Sorry...no chrony numbers or accuracy info just yet..all I can say is with the lightest spring I had on hand the gun cocks super light and smooth and kicks a lot harder than before.

The breech/barrel band combo is brilliant. Should eliminate any breech movement.

Did you make the trigger in the M-Rod trigger group? I much prefer the trigger guard you have to many I see with the M-Rod trigger group.

Your carbine looks amazing!! I love that rear barrel band/breech set up!! Do you use the small breech screw, or does the barrel band set up eliminate the need?

I still use the rear location 4/48 screw, although it really carries almost no load. However it does help keep things in line if I need loosen the rear band so that I can rotate the barrel.

Well I finally have a 1st chrony string to post. All I can say is Don's valve works far better than I thought possible especially on co2. And this is with the lightest striker spring I had, with the pre-load adjuster backed out as far as it would go. All shots were fired one after another, no waiting time in between. A little more fine tuning and I believe I can narrow the shot to shot fps and maybe even raise it a bit.

I have to agree, that is a great looking setup. And I too really love that breech/barrel band combo. I really hope someone tells Crosman to do that. Is that your creation? You should really make up some for us to buy... ;)

Joe that particular barrel band/breech setup was my idea of a fix for something that has been tackled by others in different ways long before me.

Sweet looking carbine. This screams "woods gun" in a big way. The barrel-band-n-breech assembly is great, but the overall aesthetics scream "hunting machine".

nice. i love the natural alum look of bling bling. i do know how time consuming this stuff is..lightweight too.. good job looks great. we have several 22xx - disco style guns most are primarily used on co2, but they all have been modded with the valve anchor trick. its amazing how many shots you can milk out of a co2 gun. all of mine have improved greatly since the ssg mod has been added to each one....cheers

But the bolt is on the wrong side! ;) Now we need to see some targets. I would also like to see a string filled with 3kpsi air and a heavy pellet! ;D
