My new New Hatsan Model 25 Supercharger Vortex air pistol won't stop dieseling after over 200 shots. It expels a small cloud of smoke with each shot. My equally new New Hatsan Model 25 Supercharger (non Vortex) stopped dieseling after about 20-25 shots and shoots at 60 fps faster than the Vortex-powered gun.
Is this normal?
Thanks!

After 200 shots?
No.
Not normal.

The Mod 25 is definitely burning oil. It's not as loud a crack as a new rifle would produce, but I can smell the burnt oil. I also experienced some dangerous mechanical trouble. The spring-powered Mod 25 stopped diesing within 20-25 shots and is quieter and more powerful. I think the piston seal on the Vortex-powered Mod 25 is defective.
I've emailed www.fieldsupply.com (http://www.fieldsupply.com), requesting to exchange this defective gun with a new one of the same model and caliber. I've offered to pay for the new one up front so it can be shipped immediately if they will reverse the charges when they get this "problem" gun.
We'll see what happens.

My Hatsan 95 Vortex in .22 still has a wisp of smoke when I recock the gun. This is after about 600 pellets. I think it is kind of cool.
No crack or sharp sounds though. I assume the gun was over oiled and when I get to deburring and re piston sealing it, I will clean it out.
Could be a chipped piston seal. This might allow some oil/grease from behind the piston seal, to get in front of the piston seal when cocking.
I would assume that the first shot of the day is probably the least "polluting".
Good Luck,

Because I reported the issue with the Vortex Mod 25 within the 14-day return period for www.fieldsupply.com (http://www.fieldsupply.com), I am able to ship the gun back to them, at their expense, for a refund. I have already placed an order for another of the same airgun from them online.

Sorry to see the Supercharger Vortex go back. Mine did not experience the dieseling you mentioned and is very accurate. I do think it is normal for the spring version to shoot a little hotter than the Vortex version, but the Vortex is sooooo smooth. I have taken starlings at 40 yards with mine and itis my goto yard gun.
