I have a Scott 45 minute 4500psi tank and went to get it filled today at a local Fire Safety Equipment and they said it was expired and couldn't be filled. My heart sank as I just purchased a Talon SS and have the next couple of weeks off. The Scott tank sill has about 2400 psi so I can fill the gun up some and get some shots but that will be over soon.
Any tank recommendations? I really didn't want to spend 800+ dollars.
I say this which seems like it will work has anyone used one before.
Air Venturi Carbon Fiber Tank, 4500 PSI, 74 Cu Ft.

Thanks!

Go onto E-bay
Many tanks with remaining life to be purchased fairly inexpensive.
Swap out the valve from ( If a specialty valve ? ) yours and screw into the SCBA tank.
Likely can do this for SUB $300

was your tanks maximum service life from date of manufacture expired ?,... OR,... is it just the Hydro-test is due ?
What is the Date of Manufacture on your tank ?

Yes, manufactured in 2000 and Hydored in 2014.

+1 I picked one up on Ebay last year for a good price. The tank still had 9 years left and it had never been in service so I basically scored an almost new tank. I did have an issue with the stock valve.... slow leak in the gauge.

I've got the Air Venturi 88 cu ft carbon fiber. Got it on Amazon, order filled by Pyramyd Air. Works just fine.

I looked on ebay and found some Scott 4500psi 45 minute but the $100 - $300 tanks are 12 or 13 years old so I'd only get a couple years out of the tank. The new tank will cost twice as or more but it will last 15 years.

I picked up my new Air Venturi from Amazon & got 12 mos free financing. My Drager tank had reached it's 15yr life span, so I took the plunge.

Quite a few of us last fall picked up BRAND NEW "drager" 45's & 60's for $225/$275 with a 2009/10 MFG date.
These were marked Phoenix Fire Department and were never put into service & sold because the FD changed contractors and tanks were scrapped. So some killer deals do happen time to time.
While these may be gone now ... keep watching being listings happen weekly.

I found these, Drager 4500psi SCBA tank 45 minute carbon wrapped Unused 2008 mfg date 65.5 SCF $225.00

Which according to Tank Fill Calculator, http://www.airgunsofarizona.com/Tanks/FillCalc.html. (http://www.airgunsofarizona.com/Tanks/FillCalc.html.) I can get 16 fills in my Talon SS 490cc tank from 1700 to 2900 not sure if that includes the first fill from 0 to 2900 but I've already have 2200 in it so I should the 16.
The thread patter is unknown and no return. Does anyone know it they are some special thread patter or will the 300 dim fill adapter which works with the Scott tank I have work with the Drager?
Thanks so much!!

I use a Tiger Shark but, a guppy would do fine.

I don't think the Guppy will work for my Talon SS with the 490cc tank it will only give me 4 refills.

your fill rig that fit your Scott tank will fit on that Draeger tank just fine.
So you are looking at $225, + $16.08 shipping, + (approx. $35) for a hydro-test once you get it.
Check your area for a local place that can do the Hydro-test, and verify costs.

The Fire Safety Equipment store near me said a Hydro is $26.00. I didn't think to ask the fill price as I was in shock that they couldn't fill the tank but i'm sure it can't be more then $20.00.
Do you think there would be any reason the Drager tank wouldn't pass the hydro??
The fill assembly is a friends so I may want to invest in one myself. Looks like the below photo would work from Joe Brancato for $149.00?
So for roughly $400.00 I can get what I would need for the next 7 years (tank life left) and have it in a week or so or spend an additional $150.00 on the Air Venturi Carbon Fiber Tank, 4500 PSI, 74 Cu Ft. for $549.00 and have what I'd need for the next 15 years but have to wait 3 weeks to 3 months as the in stock date is May 25th and they never seem accurate. The in stock date on the Talon SS .177 was May 5th and now it's May 19th.
Oh the decisions...

Use an 80cf SCUBA tank charged to 3200psi and get ~40 refills and ~2000, 15 to 20 fpe plinking/pesting shots on the 2000 & 2400psi airguns used. Hand pump the 1701Ps/1720T to ~2900 and have hand pumped the rifles before but now have a bud coming from a bigger town every few weeks, with his fully charged 4500 psi SCBA tank to refill my SCUBA tank.

What do you guys think of one of these? ??? Has good reviews but I'm pretty much PCP ignorant so I'm probably missing something. I got one of the bargain pumps and I'm gonna be getting a Maximus or possibly a Disco. I just know I'll get tired of hand pumping pretty quick (and I'm OLD). It surprised me but there's a dive shop a 1/2 hour away that does fills.

Only a 3K pressure tank ...
If your gun fills to 3K you may get ONE good fill and all descending from there on .... not good.
Shooting say a DISCO with a 2K fill ? ... a 3k tank works fine.

I ordered one of the those New old stock Dragger tanks from e-bay, also ordered a Joe B. fill whip. I should have it all by the end of the week.

I had 7 scuba tanks to fill my guns but just sold them all and bought a 30min scba for $90 shipped and just bought a 60min for $130 shipped . But also just ordered a shoebox compressor so I can fill them my self I got tired of dealing with dragging all those tanks around and dealing with complications trying to get them filled . If shooting pcp guns is going to be a life long hobby the only real option is to buy a compressor . However if you have a place to fill a scuba tank that's right around the corner then that's a pretty cheap option . I would tell them to over fill them a little bit to like 3100/3200 psi believe it or not I would get lots and lots of fills shooting my evanix rainstorm . Another thing I learned was if you warm the scuba tank slightly by setting it in the sun you will raise the pressure in the tank and get more shots out of a tank . But be very carefull to not over heat any high pressure devise !
