Title: New Hatsan 95 vortex intermittent trigger fail
Post by: Stratojet on April 07, 2016, 01:27:45 AM
I got my mod 95 .22 caliber vortex 4 days ago, have shot almost 500 pellets thru it so far.  I'm really liking this gun!

But, it's developed an unsafe problem.  At random times it will not fire, there's just a wee bit of second stage trigger movement, then it refuses to fire.  The dangerous part is that a firm slap on the stock from the side (over the embedded trigger assembly) will cause the gun to discharge, with the safety on!

The only things I've done to the gun is to blue loctite the two external trigger mount screws (one to stock, the other to the mechanism), and back out the rearmost trigger adjustment screw (behind the trigger) about half way (an attempt to lessen the trigger weight).  Blue loctite on scope mounts completes my total changes to the gun.  I've since retightened that thirst screw once the problem started, but it makes no difference.

The stock is beautiful, the gun has been very accurate and a pleasure so far.  Having air gun depot replace it, to perhaps start a receive/replace cycle doesn't appeal to me all that much.  Ifs it a known problem, can someone mechanically minded but not experienced in gun repair handle it?

Any ideas/info would be greatly appreciated.

This is my first day as a member of GTA, I mistakenly posted a more detailed description of the problem in the North America gate.  Not being so brilliant I originally assumed the gates were where we lived.  Oh well, color me stupid...

Bob,

Send it back!  Any gun that shoots with the safety on is DANGEROUS! >:(
I understand why you like your gun.  However, if it is still within the return date, do so!
They may even reject it because of the loc-tite. :-[  Taking the gun out of it's stock most certainly will void the return policy!
If this was not your first air gun I would suggest tearing it apart.  There are many videos that show you how to do this.  Mike Ellington in particular has some very detailed instructions.
It probably has to do with the safety bar, when you the safety is engaged an bar slides forward and "blocks" the trigger.  I bet this bar has gotten bent or twisted and does not properly block the trigger.  IMHO

Others here are has much more experience with taking this gun apart and may have a simple solution, but I have never heard of this problem before.

Whatever you decide to do, please keep us informed....

Thanks,

-Y

Bob,

Please contact us via the following link for assistance:  http://www.hatsanusa.com/warranty-repair/customer-service-form/ (http://www.hatsanusa.com/warranty-repair/customer-service-form/)
We would be happy to take care of this issue for you.  Hatsan takes potential safety-related situations very seriously, and we would like to address the problem ASAP!

Yogi,

The act of removing the stock for maintenance purposes, such as lubricating or adding thread-locking compound to fastening hardware will not affect warranty coverage through us as long as the maintenance performed does not damage or change the operation/performance of the gun.

I just cant sit back any longer,i receive a 125 vortex that shot good then fps fell off bad.upon returning to hatsan they shot it and said they got a face full of oil, total BS and not the truth and wanted me to pay for repairs saying I lubed the seal and that melted seal causing poor fps.are you kidding me?i oiled the seal?no I didn't oil the seal.i shot just before I boxed it up to check fps and guees what?no oil in my face.
so say what you will about my opinion but what happed is a fact and I would be very leery about sending a rifle to hatsan for repair.or even buying one for that matter.
I posted this in the hatsan gate and not one hatsan fan chimed backing them...

Gentlemen,
Hatsan has been very good with their customer service when contacted directly.
You also have the option , ( and are usually better served ) by sending a pm to our Hatsan reps.

Please be mindful of forum rules for bashing, as it is not tolerated, and serves no productive purpose.

Just to put it bluntly sir  I am sure you have got your point across about how you feel about a hatsan after numerous negative post and threads about them  so  refrain from farther bashing of a product.   David
