It's a refurb for $104.99 from Airgun Pro Shop. Figured I couldn't beat the price even on a refurb.
-
Theyre great HARD hitting rifles.

Tell us how she shoot, mine is not a vortex but a springer. Very powerful 22, I wish they would get rid of the no good fiber optic sight and put on real iron sight, need to get a scope mount with barrel drope comp, mine got major drops.
-
I've been looking at these for a while now, I've read a lot of good things and seen some videos and when I found one in .25 cal for this price I had to jump on it. I'll keep you guys posted once I get it squared away.

When I got home friday the FedEx guy was at my house with a long skinny package. I cleaned the barrel, tightened the screws and ran 28.7G Benji Domes through it until it stopped smoking. Then I ran it over the chorny for a disappointing avg fps of 562.84 giving me 21.10 fpe. Also, I thought I was ordering a Vortex gas ram but it's the wire spring which was also disappointing but that was my mistake. Anyway, I sent an email to the vendor about the poor performance, we shall see.

Bummer about the spring. What were your impressions about the condition of the rifle. Could you tell it was "used"?
I am not sure the narrow piston in the 95 is the right thing to move major lead...
Good Luck,

I also received a hatsad from same vender,it was very poor quality and I sent my rifle back and got royally screwed.hatsad said I lubed the seal and melted it.as I have stated before they said they shot it and got a face full of oil.they lied big time.if you paid with paypal file a dispute with paypal.good luck.

If you got 21 fpe, you don't have anything close to poor performance. That is the correct power of a 95.
-
Yeah, what were you expecting from this gun? 30 FPE?

I was thinking this myself. 21fpe out of a mod95 sounds great.

The rifle is rated for 650 fps but that's with something like a 20gr pellet so the numbers you got with the almost 29gr Benji's are right about on the mark, there's nothing wrong with your rifle.
You might also try JSB Exact King Diabolos or H&N Crow Magnums. They're both a little lighter weight, shoot great in my .25's and if you're hunting with it are definite pest wreckers.
You got a good rifle, shoot and enjoy :)

Hey Everybody Complaining,
1) The Hatsan 95 is a very good, inexpensive gun.
2) Contrary to what you have said, I don't think you've read up enough about the gun ???.
3) They are rated at 650 fps with 19.91 grain pellets. You are using much heavier pellets, so your 562.84 fps is good. As AudiS4 has said 21 fpe is very good for this gun. IMO the Hatsan 95 is under-powered in .25 caliber. I think it's best in .22 or .177.
4) Bye the way, you get a little more power with an OEM Springer than than Vortex.
6) If you really want a .25 caliber gun, get a PCP. IMO the Hatsan 135, 125 are even under-powered in .25 caliber.
My two cents .............. Kirk

+1 what others have posted. Nothing wrong with your power, it's exactly where it should be with that heavy pellet. If you use H&N Field Targets or Vortex (same pellet) 19.91 grain pellets you'll be right at the 650fps it's rated at. Every gun is different but those Benjamin pellets shot awful in my .25 Hatsan Edge. The H&N's or the JSB Exact 25.89 grain do the best in it.

From what I'm reading, the spring version is every bit the equal (if not better) compared to the Vortex. Not only that, but they drill a hole in the receiver to fill that Vortex and if they mess that up, touch-up after the fact puts shavings into the compression chamber that - if things happen anything like they did with my gun - eventually will take out your piston seal. You won't have that issue ;)
Just for the sake of clarity, mine's a 125 and I suspect this issue may not be happening to the 95's, at least not with the same frequency...

I just received an email from AirGunPro stating that they test with Hatsan Vortex .25 cal pellets which are 19.19g. I thought the test pellets would have been heavier thus the difference in fps. I'm going to scope it next and see what sort of accuracy I get. I was hitting golfballs offhand at 20 yards with open sites with no problem so I'm eager to see what happens next. The Quatro trigger is very nice and the fit and finish are also very nice and overall it seems to be very well put together though just a tad heavy. When all is said and done , if this thing is as accurate as I'm hoping then it's gonna be the best $100 break barrel ever.

I learned a lesson very quickly about shooting golf balls. Big No No. That pellet came back so fast it was scary. Nicked the tip of my ear and bled like crazy. I was a lot younger

Only thing I can recommend besides trying the JSB Exact King 25.39gr and H&N Crow Magnums is make sure whatever scope you decide on is airgun rated. If it doesn't say it in the description, e-mail the company and ask to make sure.
UTG, Centerpoint, Bushnell and my personal favorite Hawke all make good quality air gun rated scopes and most can be had for $100 or less.
Keep us posted, enquiring minds wanna know and pictures are always a nice bonus....this is mine, 95 Vortex .25 with Hawke scope...

After probably about 1000 rounds through this thing I have to say I think I got a good one. I'm consistently killing 2 inch spinners offhand at 25 yards with open sites using 28.7g Benji Domes. I have pics I'll post later, I'm not on my own computer right now. I love the Quatro trigger too once I made a minor adjustment it shoots like butter with a nice clean let off. I mounted a UTG 4x32 scope with a nice one piece mount which it promptly destroyed after just a few rounds. I can't wait to mount a new scope and see what I can do with it.

Did it destroy the scope or the mount?
What did you do to the trigger?

21 FPE is right on the mark for a M95/.25. I shoot the Hatsan (by H&N) Vortex 19.9gr in the 1000X with good results, the 135/.25 does well with the H&N Crow Magnums. If the scope failed, I believe UTG has a lifetime warranty. If so send it back for replacement.
-
Yeah it was the scope that failed. I was a little disappointed with the power at first but I'm ok with it now. This rifle is accurate it hits hard and the .25 cal pellet makes a heck of a wound channel.

I have the 95 vortex in .25 and i agree with the others mine loves the 19.91 from H&N. Spiral groove did an excellent job tuning this rifle i also agree it is a little under powered in this platform, my .22 vortexs shoot hard but my .25 is my favorite has the best trigger of them all i shoot it open sighted and takes squirrels and rabbits easily.

Does the .25 have a better trigger because of the Spiral Groove tune?

I wanted to post this some time ago but had to resize it first. Sighting in the 95, 25 yards, open sites, offhand, 58 year old eyes, not too bad I think. This was of course, before the safety malfunctioned. I'm sending it back to Hatsan today for warranty service.
